Time for the Friday update!

More small stuff...

Well models doesn't build themself you know, so on to the building!

Today's first action was to drill a small hole on the port side close to the nosegear.

IMG_6184.JPG

And it's for this little thing that pretty much every model are built without.

IMG_6185.JPG

It is what it looks like, a small pitottube wich function escapes me at the moment but I bet I will be told soon :D

IMG_6186.JPG

Next it's time to detail the inside of the canopy. Did a little painting and drybrushing first.

IMG_6187.JPG

Then a little green wire was added...its other end will be attached at the ejection seat.

IMG_6189.JPG

Then I made this little thingy that goes into the top rear of the frame....I have no clue what it is. The cable will be gray and the contact black.

IMG_6190.JPG

And this thingy, I will cut it to shape but it's a box that fits inside the rear frame with a thick white cable running from it.

IMG_6191.JPG

The pieces painted and glued into place.

IMG_6192.JPG

IMG_6193.JPG

Then I handpainted the ladder....no worries it'll be worn :P

IMG_6195.JPG

Then it was time for the Eduard goodies.... I'll use the Sparrow as a Skyflash, as they are pretty much indistinguishable from each other.

The Sidewinders are as is...

IMG_6196.JPG

IMG_6197.JPG

First I added the fins.

IMG_6198.JPG

Then I had to clean the Jetmads launchers.

IMG_6199.JPG

First with THE DREMEL, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

IMG_6200.JPG

And then the scraper to get rid of the printlines!

IMG_6201.JPG

Done

IMG_6202.JPG

I ended today's session with impailing the launchers and missiles.... ready for primer

Wow, Sunday AGAIN?! Time flies...

Weponisation

Today I continued with the weapons...

First I primed all in alclad flat black primer/microfiller.

IMG_6219.JPG

IMG_6220.JPG

THen I used white primer on top of that for everything that will be painted gloss white.

IMG_6221.JPG

Then on with the gloss white....hmm doesn't show that well but they are painted :P

IMG_6222.JPG

On to the Sidewinders, I put down gloss black on the forward section.

IMG_6223.JPG

And painted it in Alclad steel.

IMG_6224.JPG

Next I masked the border between the metal and the rest of the missile body.

IMG_6225.JPG

I painted the body in FS36375 light ghost gray

IMG_6226.JPG

Then I brush painted the band and tip in aluminium.

IMG_6227.JPG

I used my chrome pensil and decanted some paint and brush painted the small bands and the very tip of the 'winder

IMG_6228.JPG

I finished the painting on the 'winders with Citadel Ironhand steel on the rollerons.

IMG_6229.JPG

Back to the skyflashes, I masked off the tip.

IMG_6230.JPG

THen painted the tips in FS36622, a very light gray, almost off white.

IMG_6231.JPG

I finished the session with gloss varnish over all.... next the decals!

IMG_6232.JPG

Cheers!

A Bonus!!!

The Loadout

All about the ordnance today. I begin with all the pesky decals.....tho the Eduard decals are really  nice for decals.

IMG_6233.JPG

Oh, but first the seeker heads for the 'winders before I forget them again.

IMG_6234.JPG

Looks really nice in place.

IMG_6235.JPG

Yeah, the decals.....they are finally on, there was like a gazillion of them but I sort of forgot the smallest.....

IMG_6236.JPG

And next the Skyflash...I may have put  a "AIM-7 Sparrow" mariking on them but I dare the model judge to spot it :P

IMG_6238.JPG

After the decals were on I sealed them with another coat of gloss varnish and then I set out to dirty them up a bit.

IMG_6239.JPG

IMG_6240.JPG

After the wash had dried I wiped it off....don't want them too dirty I just want the details to pop a bit.

IMG_6241.JPG

IMG_6242.JPG

Unfortunately I didn't get launchers with the Eduard missiles so I have to use the Jetmads launchers...and they don't match the Eduard missiles.

IMG_6243.JPG

I had to do a bit of "crafting" with the Dremel both on the launchers and on the missiles.

IMG_6244.JPG

IMG_6245.JPG

To make the missiles grip the launchers I drilled holes in the missiles and launchers and glued piano wire in them

IMG_6246.JPG

With that the 'winders are done...

IMG_6247.JPG

I did the same thing on the Skyflashes...

IMG_6248.JPG

So here is the Viggen cold war fighter loadout.. 4x AIM-9M Sidewinder (Rb74) and 2x Skyflash (Rb71), a drop tank and that wicked 30mm KCA gun

IMG_6249.JPG

Cheers!

It's Friday and you know what time it is! UPDATEY TIME!

The teeth are sharp on this one...

Well then...not much to say really.

Not a big update but it took a while of trimming and positioning before I was happy.

I even had to remove a wheelbay door to make room for the Skyflash.

Well that's an importan obseration btw. The supports for the main wheelbay doors may be a bit long so you need to take a off a bit to get the doors in the right position, so be aware of this part!

well anyways I got the weapons loaded and the Giagant Viggen just got meaner!

I started with the Skyflashes because it was the most work to get into place.

IMG_6250.JPG

IMG_6251.JPG

IMG_6252.JPG

Next the drop tank....some smal fit issues because I hade puttied over the holes for the fastening luggs. I got that Dremeled real fast.

IMG_6253.JPG

The 'winders were the easiest to fit, just be avare that the luggs my need a bit of shortening as to fit in the holes in the pylons.

First the belly 'winders.

IMG_6254.JPG

Then the wing 'winders.

IMG_6255.JPG

There you have it.....armed to bear! I got really tired in my left arm from holding that big resin lump, almost dropped it once :P

Cheers!

And here is the Sunday update!

This is it.

With this update I can do  no more until I have the turned brass pitot tubes. When that happens I don't know and have no control over, all I can tell you is that Maestro have them in the works and that they will be available before the summer.

until then you hav e to make do with this update and perhaps I´ll do the boarding ladder some day but for now this is it!

Looking good with the weapons on...

IMG_6258.JPG

Now for the canopy attachement...it wen't on without a hitch

IMG_6259.JPG

NOw I just have to arrange them cables and cords from the canopy.

IMG_6260.JPG

The two goes behind the seat, in fact the green should be connected to the seat but I think this is good enough.

IMG_6261.JPG

IMG_6262.JPG

I drilled a 0.6mm hole for the alfa probe and glued it in place.

IMG_6263.JPG

Then this poor little antenna on the spine...I hope it stays :P

IMG_6264.JPG

Hmm...I lost the picture of the temp probe but it's in place under the right canard.

what else is there.... I have a nagging feeling I've forgotten something.

Here's some pics while I ponder.

IMG_6266.JPG

IMG_6268.JPG

IMG_6269.JPG

Ahhhh...the saftey handle for the bang seat!!!

There you have it my friends, thank you for patiently following this build for 6 months or so!
A few more things has been forgotten or will be changes as new facts has been recieved but I will not make an update of those.
You will see in the Finish Pictures later this spring.

See you in the next project!

Cheers!

This has been a joy to follow along, Aigore. Great build and I'm looking forward to seeing the RFI pictures until summer... which means you have plenty of time to correct the position of the seat safety handle :whistle:

"STOLEN SAKRAD" should face the inwards I think, while the triangular end of the handle must face outwards off the seat.
