tucohoward
Been wanting to do another one of these since I built the nightfighter version a few years ago. Found one for $50 at the Nats so figured it was time. Probably will go with kit markings as I like the wasp, but will probably go with masks for the rest of the markings. Most of the riveting is done with my usual beading tool method. Just a few things left that need to be done after more assembly. I have been working on the cockpit as well. Airscale decals for instruments and placards. They make a huge difference. Eduard PE belts. The rest is just the kit parts. Was hoping to get the fuselage closed this weekend but not looking good for that. Cheers, Jay Uncarina, Fanes, MikeC and 14 others

nmayhew
nice one thing i could never work out though: what was that middle seat for? these things had a crew of two no? tucohoward
Dave Williams
Normally three. The guy in the middle operated the radios and changed the drums for the 20mm cannon.

nmayhew
3 hours ago, MikeMaben said: ...or one guy can switch seats when necessary. sooo...this was bugging me so i did some digging and although designed for 3 (hence the extra pew), the middle seat was redundant; 110s had 2 man crews - or to be more specific, I know C, D and E variants had 2 man crews; I don't know about the later F and Gs for sure to back this up - since i only 'read it somewhere on the internet' lol, I trawled through my Luftwaffe Crash Archive books - every downed 110 that i saw was crewed by 2 not 3; no way that's a coincidence whether they all had the middle seat I have no idea ie whether it was left out once it was obvious they were only 2 man crews probably need to seek out John Vasco for that kind of stuff (he is "Mr 110") not particularly relevant to the build, so sorry to the OP, but hopefully of technical interest to some Kais and tucohoward
Out2gtcha
IIRC that sounds right to what I have heard prior as far as crew for the early models. Im no SME by any means, but have only done my little bit of digging on the G4s. IIRC didn't they add the 3rd gent for radar operations?
Shawn M
I saw a lot of the same info, that said there were 3 man crews more often then not as you had pilot, radio man, rear gunner.
tucohoward
This one is coming along. Due to the size I have been painting it with the wings off. The fit of the wings is very good so should be able to install them later with a little touch up. Did add a thin shim to the front of the right wing but that was all that was needed. The wasp decals on the nose were a challenge. I did have to sand and paint in spots but I think they are ok. A combination of MRP and Mr. Color paint. monthebiff
Really nice work Jay, the fir of the kit is very good isn't it and shouldn't cause to much issue when you add the wings. Regards. Andy tucohoward
