Its been a while since I last updated this but I have been working on it. Still no sign of my fiber cable so will now need to look at sourcing from somewhere else. In the mean time, I have been making some more buildings and working on the ship itself.
Starting with the ship, I have penciled in the panel lines using a 0.03mm mechanical pencil and a cut up credit card. I'm debating whether or not to take some of them back but I quite like it as is.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And finally, a rough layout of the taller buildings for the base. I am waiting on some silicone molding stuff to arrive this coming Tuesday as I want to cast some of the newer pieces. Once that's done, I can start finishing off these structures and getting them detailed ready for lighting and painting

Thanks guys. Im over half way done with the panelling on the lower half and its just the top superstructure thay is left to do. I'll upload some photos of the completed hull hopefully tonight (providing I actually finish it)

The ten-year-old me can still hear the sound of the TIE Fighers whipping by the docking bay when I look at each of your posts. Amazing work and a master class in how to bring out the best in this kit! I am enjoying every update Si' - thank you so much for posting!

thanks for the kind post Paul - I'm glad you're enjoying it   Don't worry, I hear Vader's voice whenever I look at it saying that the Emperor is not please with the rate of progress I'm thinking of naming this piece (something I've never done before) something along the lines of "Vader - your Uber's here"

OK, well, I have finished putting in all the panel lines and I am really happy with how they came out. It was a fair amount of work but IMO, worth every minute. I reckon it took a total of about 4- 5 hours to do the whole ship - which given how long its taken me to get this far could be considered mind blowingly fast

Well, that's it for now. I'll continue working on the base until I get some more fiber. I still need to add a clear coat to the ship and then I'll do a small wash in places to bring out more detail but other than that, yeah, the painting side is pretty much done. Open to any suggestions on how to make it better

I've made yet another amendment to the base and have scrapped the buildings in favour of smaller structures like this:

I have finished building the machinery stuff for the hole section on the right side of the base. It's made up of 2 layers which will be sufficient to give a scale of depth. You won't see much if it but I will be adding some lights under the first floor to make it more visible and for some interest (gotta have more to look at than just the ship right?)

This is now all ready for paint which I will do tomorrow night.
