Shaka HI
Thanks ya'll...I did the rest of the model, but the photos show it will require more coverage. Let the model sit for a day and take another look -- and I like the chipping, though it's a bit overdone. Not sure how that happened, but live and learn! mozart, BradG and KUROK
dodgem37
Chipping looks good. It will tone down with a wash. Sincerely, Mark Shaka HI and Shawn M
Shawn M
looks great Shaka, I agree with Mark that some washes will tone it down a touch and tie it in. The grey belly looks perfect from the pics I've seen. Shaka HI
Shaka HI
Top done with random variations of the base color tinted with reds/blues/whites/greys/browns/blacks (VERY diluted, sprayed as fine as I can)...I'm curious to see if any of this is even visible after the clear coats? Olive drab is very hard to work with. I feel like it's purely guess work in the end. TorbenD, BradG and MikeC
mozart
That looks very realistic Shaka, I've never been a fan of pre-shading but the work that you're doing illustrates how effective post-shading in all its forms can be. TorbenD
Really liking the subtle variation in this, both tonal and hue... I bet it looks even better in the flesh. Torben Shaka HI

BradG
Very nice. I like how you've not just stuck to shading the middle of panel lines either, this will come up really well with your washes I think. Shaka HI
Shawn M
the color variation looks great! Shaka HI
dmthamade
Olive drab can be funny, differences in tone, fading, dirt, stains, even new OD can look different from one to another. Looks good what you have on the P-40. Don Shaka HI
Shaka HI
I sprayed some Future on one of the wings and the subtle shading has all but disappeared under normal lighting (of course it got much darker, too). Some of the color variations will be more visible after a flat coat, but I'm super curious just how much. I've noticed this with props and figured that using the base color and tinting it would give me results I'm looking for, but we shall see...thanks for watching. mikeblack

Shaka HI
Sprayed a little more clear and took another picture in better lighting...we definitely can see something here...need to prep for a storm coming our way! Shaka HI
The Super Scale decals didn't fill in the black for the shark mouth for some odd reason and when compared to photos of Scott's actual aircraft -- they don't look right, but let's move on. I made masks using the original decal to paint the black area where the decal of the shark mouth will be placed and sprayed the rest of the model with Future -- 3 coats. I'll apply the decals, seal it and use the salt technique to further weather the model followed by whatever moves me... photos of Scott's actual aircraft -- they don't look right: I take this back, I've been looking at the wrong aircraft! This is his P-40E... Edited July 27, 2016 by Shaka HI BradG
