crobinsonh Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Whilst I am waiting for the putty to dry some more progress shots. Thanks for your comments. Onwards and forwards. Up on her legs now. Forgot this piece.
crobinsonh Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 The overspray? LEAVE IT!! I'm a mechanic on F-18's and our corrosion guys do it all the time!! The damaged decal for the port engine bay formation light? LEAVE IT!! Our formation lights look like that all the time. Otherwise not much advice for the resin cockpit bits. With having 7 years of maintenance experience on these bad boys, you've created one of the best looking model Hornets I've seen!! Thanks a lot for your comments. Coming from someone who knows these aircraft as you do your comment is very special.
Vitali Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 A paintbrush should get the debris out off the glare shield. Moisten it with a little water may pick it up more easily. HTH Vitali crobinsonh 1
crobinsonh Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 How did you replicate the boot marks???? using MIG 502 oil paints and some resin Army boots from Calibre.
crobinsonh Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 Some more progress - although I am back to work and off on my travels so the final push will take a little longer. I am really pleased with how she is finally coming together. God knows how many hours I have spent in total since late 2006. Please note the canopy is just placed on the model to make me feel good :-) Still to do: Canopy mounting Sidewinder missiles repair paint where I have smudged super glue Various ariels etc I need to find a display case for it. Targeting pod Some weapons and tanks mounted Bill Cross 1
crobinsonh Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 A few more of the cockpit area. Next shots will hopefully be of the finished model (fingers crossed). Loic and Bill Cross 2
crobinsonh Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 Last couple of shots taken further away - but not in natural light. I now realise how big a scale 1/32nd is for jets and the Hornet is not a particularly big one. Bill Cross, Out2gtcha, blackbetty and 4 others 7
Fenous Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 About the debris: if moistened paintbrush doesn`t work because of lack of space, I would take thin flexible tube, put it in cup of an airbush and seal it with Tack-it or similar and pressure from airbrush should suck the air through the tube making something like vacuum cleaner. This is just theory, never tried that, but it might work. crobinsonh 1
andromeda673 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I've been digging around and came across this thread, what a kick ass build, how I missed this is beyond me, but seriously great work so far! Stupid question, how did you get the boot marks? did you just use a pilot figure?
