joker reacted to Thunnus in 1/32 Revell Me 262-A (New Tool) July 2019 Release
I am interested in seeing the Revell 262A kit. I just built the Trumpeter 262 kit and thought it was a good one. Not great but pretty good. The main issue I had was getting the nose panel pieces to fit. The engine nacelles went together well although I elected not to include the engine internals.

Hmmm, oh no, not the "bad restoration" caveat again.
There is a great book by Brett Green published by Eagle Editions that contains a lot of great photos of the UNRESTORED Me 262 preserved in Camberra. Flush rivets are clearly visible in every photo. I was fortunate enough to get very close to five 262s (OK, two of them were Czech Avias :-) ) and I spent a whole day measuring and photographing the 262 in Deutsches Museum in Munich (which is not a "restoration" as such). All of them feature flush rivets. Granted, they are not as bad a Trumpeter made them, but they are not entirely "invisible" either - on the real thing they are "faint circles" rather than "holes". In contrast, the Ar 234 in the Smithsonian is puttied, polished and smoothed to an amazing degree. The wings and fuselage of the Arado feature no panel lines or rivets whereas in some other places (engine cowls) you can still see rivets, some of them not even "flush". When you compare the Me 262 to the Ar 234 it becomes immediately evident that the the 262 is rather "agricultural" in construction. :-)

I was on a corner once there. Saw a girl in flat bed Ford. She slowed down to take a look at me.

hi gents
here is my last purchase .. no plastic , but a French Gueneau 316 flight helmet ..... this is not a " brand new " helmet , this type of gear has been withdrawn some decades ago .... this helmet has been painted by a retired " Armée de l'air" mechanic
this guy has painted during his duty more than 1000 helmets for pilots or retired staff etc.... my helmet is painted after the request of an ex " 1/2 "cigogne " squadron pilot , so mine is a copy ( painted by hand no airbrush) .... hope you like it

My theory is that for decades, the guys in the Blackburn design office only had straight rulers and dividers to design their siblings.
Then an apprentice found out a complete set of lofting curves in a drawer in a forgotten corner of the office, and the designers, so happy with these new revolutionary tools, had an orgy with them when designing the Brick ...

Yet another HDD for my new PC arrived today, this time a Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM, 64MB Cache, SATA-6 2TB internal drive. I was going to go with a 3TB drive this month, but the 2TB was on sale for a pretty good price, so I snatched it instead. My new computer case has 7 internal drive bays, so in addition to this drive, my 1TB and the 240GB SSD, I still have plenty of room for expansion, should I need (or desire) it.
Just a couple more items still to get and I'm ready to build this new PC, and I can't hardly wait. (This has been such a dragged out affair.)

Pete, there should be a specific set for FAA Corsairs made by HGW. I have a set of them in the stash somewhere.
Also, Tamiya has a set of FAA belts on the PE fret included with the kit.
Hope that helps.

joker reacted to monthebiff in Dragon/ AIMS 1/32 Messerschmitt BF110 G-4 2Z+GB Stab 1./NJG6..........Finished!!
So after much anticipation my copy of the new AIMS G-4 conversion has arrived and being one of my favourite all time aircraft I decided to make a start immediately! I am using the D-1 boxing from Dragon as the donar kit mainly as this was the easiest and cheapest to get hold of.
I will also be using HGW belts and the Eduard exterior etch set which is mainly for the wheel wells. So on to the AIMS set and what a fantastic set John has put together here, so what do we get in the box:
Two bags of resin which are brimmed with beautifully cast parts with some excellent detail indeed.
A large etched fret as well as a small supplimentary fret for the cockpit armour. Master turned brass dipoles.
Vac formed rear canopy ( x 2 pieces)
and two decal sheets which are nicely in register.
Instructions are supplied in the form of a CD which also includes lots of useful reference material. Very happy with the instructions supplied with this conversion which include very clear precise drawings backed up with photographs and build sequence notes.
Time to go and have a read of these now and choose my subject in readyness to cut some plastic/ resin tomorrow.
Regards. Andy

Just bought myself a belated Christmas present:
It's the Tiger Moth from Miyazaki's film Laputa: Castle in the Sky. As a huge Miyazaki fan, I'm really chuffed about this one.
