    Hi guys,

    I recently finished Trumpeter's Mig-29M. It's the first Trumpeter kit I've ever built and I had no issues and really enjoyed putting this one together. I rescribed the access panels up the front where the fuselage upper and lower sections join and found the styrene really easy to work with. I airbrushed the base colours and lightened using a random pattern using Tamiya Acrylics. Decals were overstayed with heavily diluted base colours. Weathering was done with Ammo and AK enamel washes. Final clear coat was Alclad flat clear. Metal areas were airbrushed with Vallejo's acrylic metallics. The tail feather heat effects were created using W&N oil paints applied over Tamiya acrylic base coats using various techniques.

    The bang seat isn't in there yet, because I bought this kit second hand and the previous owner had made a real mess of the kit seat. I have a Quickboost item at home that I am currently putting together. Also missing from the photos are the Quickboost intake and exhaust covers, which I have completed, but hadn't fitted when I took these photos.

    I don't have a build log for this one on LSP, but do have one on a local forum here in New Zealand http://kiwimodeller.com/index.php/forum/40-follow-as-i-build/31343-trumpeter-1-32-mig-29m?limitstart=0

    Guys, you'll think I'm nuts, but you don't have to spray Future. If you have a nice, big, soft, sable brush, you can brush Future on! You will have very good results and no brush marks. Why? Because the Future is self leveling. Start by doing the fueslage and tail. Don't go crazy and let it run, but just nice brush strokes. Let it dry over night. Then do the upper wings. Let it dry. Then the bottom of the wings. Let it dry. You'll have a nice gloss finish and a better barrier than spraying the stuff. Put your decals on. Allow them to set, then brush Future over the decals, not the whole plane. Allow to dry. Then spray your Dullcoat. You'd be surprised how well this works. Spraying Future is good for semi-gloss. Yes, you can spray and build the layers up and get a nice gloss coat as well. But, the method above works very well. Just another idea fer ya!

    Hi guys

    I have just completed this build for a group build on a New Zealand forum. Wanted to keep it relatively clean looking as the aircraft was relatively new when it wore this scheme. I did a little fading on the panels and that was it besides a panel line wash using grey oils.

    And after a marathon session last night - this thing is done and off the bench:

    Overall - glad I built it and happy to have a 104 in the display cabinet, but the sloppiness of the Italeri kit makes the finish out maddening, and the decals, even though Cartograf printed, are rather thick. If I were doing this again, I'd strongly consider doing a West German one using Daco's huge sheet.

    Still plodding along with the F-4J build. I've finished priming everything and have spent the past couple of weeks working on some of the smaller assemblies.

    Undercarriage almost there;

    Spent a couple of hours last night working on the speed brakes. Firstly I airbrushed a base coat of Tamiya flat red and then airbrushed on a heavily diluted mix of Tamiya deck tan. I then hand painted some of the solid red in places with Vallejo flat red and also stippled some on with a dry brush to achieve some of the more subtle colours. Using a couple of different Vallejo greys I brushed in some of the chipped areas. To finish off I will apply a wash with one of the dusty AK Interactive washes.
