Primer is on the Kitty Hawk 1/32 F-5E Tiger II kit. Since I'm not using the centerline tank in this build, I shot one half of the tank with the One Shot acrylic primer and then both halves with MRP. The MRP doesn't react to the primer nor does it seem to react to bare plastic.

I will write up a full review, but I'm very happy with the AMUR flaps.  Wow.

Ok, here is the update so far:

Sprayed the exhaust panel (which is only half 'bare metal', the top half is yellow) using Vallejo Dark Aluminum, which from certain angles doesn't appear dark at all.  Go figure...  Still have not taken off the PTO battery cooling scoop from the left side of the fuselage.

Working on the silver base for the underside of the wing prior to painting the DDay Stripes.  The bomb/fuel racks are not yet attached as I've seen a number of photo's where they were not painted with the stripes.  I'll add them after the stripes are painted.

The landing gear covers are still one piece to use as a mask for the wheel wells and for painting the bottom DD stripes.  They are painted White Aluminum to give them and then the rectangle by the scoop some variety of color (which really not much will be seen with the stripes, but I know...)  the scoop is actually Dark Aluminum as well but will see how it all looks once its put together.  Easy enough to over spray.

On to those gorgeous flaps.  I will do a full review, but here is a sneak peak.  The AMUR flap is up top, next is the Revell kit and at the bottom is the Tamiya kit flap.    The Revell flap is just flat - no detail at all, but has that nasty 'groove' down the length.  The Tamiya flap has the amazing detail comparable to the AMUR flap, but is the wrong shape - it is missing the slightly concave profile of the real flap.  So the AMUR flap looks the best part matching the natural Mustang flap profile we've seen in the pictures.

Here is where the photo can be deceiving:  They all look like they are different sizes, don't they?  They are all exactly the same size!  The photo was taken at an angle.

    See!

So on to the flaps.  Here they are sprayed with a light coat of Vallejo Gloss Black Primer to highlight the amazing detail.

And with a nice glossy primer coat:

And finally in Vallejo Metal Color White Aluminum.

So there we are.  I'm actually working on a 1/72 M2A2 Bradley for our club's Build the Same Subject competition (if you build the kits from the competition by the Christmas party, the club buys the kit) at the same time.  That is my break while this dries.  I'm going to paint the M2A2 in the German WWII tiger strip camo.  Why not? ;-)

Next, need to fix that errant battery scoop on the front of the fuselage and then get the yellow on the nose and the Black and White stripes on the bottom of the wing and the black stripe on the elevators.  Then wire the landing gear, and the drop tanks.  Still a LOT to do!

    Hi folks

The postman has just dropped the PE off, so time to take a lookat what we have...

..rear fuselage floor - this is where the fuselage fuel tank sits...

    ..and it's rigid layer..

the top layer of the IP, and the IP surround layers..

..the middle layer of the IP - this carries just the bezels..

..one of the fuselage frames and inside it a number of cockpit switch panels - you can see the layers - a solid back layer onto which a detailed relief layer is added. From these designs the decals for all the labeling is scaled so I know they will fit..

    ..same again with another frame..

..a bunch of fuselage station formers - these need a strip adding to them so they look like a pressing...

..you can see part of the sub-floor here for the main fuselage - the real aircraft has multiple floor panels - this panel is to mount all those sub-panels to, and inside it some more formers - I think this is the spare lamp bulb hatch..

..some of the individual floor panels - these will be laminated with micro plywood as the real ones were wood construction, but with a metal backing like this I can be sure I get the shape right and all the fixings & screws...

    ..the throttle quadrant and levers..

..and the rudder pedals with their embossed logo & text..

Hi Mark - pretty much all of the PE was traced in Coreldraw from manufaturers drawings so they should be bang on for dimensions / proportions. Each of those drawings is dimensioned in inches so I just convert the inches to mm and scale to 1/18

So, with all the first tranche of parts done, I can start to make things now and start to get the internal fuselage structure built out..

    Hello all!

Proof of life! The AT-38B had this old-school iron sight in the front cockpit. Fun fact: the T-45 uses the same ancient sight in the rear cockpit. Much more to do here, but getting there!

    Cheers

As I was looking for a „fast“ project, before I jump into the Nightfighter Group Build with my Ju 88G-1, i realized, that I never built (I mean, never!) a German Air Force jet!
And I served 12 years in the German Air Force....
So it was time for me to drag one of the two I have in stash out and try to finish it in the next two weeks....
It‘ll have resin flaps, slats, cockpit, pilots, burner cans etc.... and decals from HaHen for a JaBoG 33 bird in the new, overall single tone blue-grey...
    Let the game begin....

Hi there I finished this some 4 weeks ago and have not had the opportunity to photograph it. Now I can ruin a decent model in one click and as you can tell it's not my thing!. I bought this at Telford SMW 2017 and it was one of those I had to have it as I normally buy 2nd hand kits. It goes together quite well and I'm pleased although it's tiny in scale and I had doubts at the beginning but I have vowed to leave 1/48 to the experts, I simply find it too small to make it an enjoyable build. Anyway some crappy photos to humour you with. Ignore the base as it's 1/32 and the only one I've got.

Primer now on, and though actually pretty decent overall, I went way too deep with the re-scribed lines (I hate scribing), so I'm now in the process of toning them down with surfacer.

The cockpit is touched-up, the nose gear well is assembled with the structure of the gun bays (which will remain empty for this build), and now to look at another backdating item. The RHAW antennas on the nose have large recesses on the insides of the nose which will leave holes when the RHAW blisters are removed. I filled the recesses with cyano, then used my Sujiborido course file to plane the surface smooth, removing the RHAW blister. You can see the cyano that fills the hole from the inside. The whole process took just a few minutes and the nose/radome are test-fitted before I go back and fill in the slide mold track on the lower sides of the nose.

    1) Complete everything in my current stash
    2) Ask for money for Christmas so I can afford to buy the Lanc

    Or donate a kidney.

okay ! here is the latest update :

it took me a bit more than i thought . since i actually had to glue , putty , sand et rescribe/rerivet the fuselage before moving to the gears and bays .

the fuse doors are closed so nothing is done to the fuse bays . but it only means more had to be done to the wing ones :

The kit is quite decent , since PE is included . but you cant cure crazy so i added a few bits and redid some mismolded parts .

I had to drill the legs and wing to install a rod . the OOB leg to bay link is incredibly weak .

    good enough for me !

now i shall take a break and enjoy the sunny weather !

    See ya soon(ish)

Progress continues with the Kitty Hawk 1/32 F-5E. I was going to really super-detail the cockpit, but I will save that effort for the next builds. First I want to get this one completed to sort out any issues before really getting into the AMS detail mode.
