Next up, attach the landing gear to the plane and enhance the lg bay. I didn't strive for 100% accuracy, but a few pipes and wires to liven up this space helps tremendously.

Cees Broere reacted to jeroenpeters in Me262A-2a/U2
Hi all,
Â
I have been absent for quite a while, but active on LargeScaleModeller.Â
At the moment I am working on the
- SH Westland Whirlwind with 3D printed RR Peregrine engines exposed.
- SH Tempest with all the sets available
- And this Trump 262 with the horrible MDC U2 conversion and other AM.
Â
The MDC set has suffered severe shrinkage and ugly castings. Some of the parts I am completely remaking. Also experimenting with a Vacform machine to remake the transparencies that are somewhat yellowed, but also sloppy casted.
Â
The deck in the resin nose has shrunken in length and width. This was fixed with Evergreen.Â
The whole rear wall of the nose looked like it had shrunken to 48 th scale. This whole wall was remade using a modified Trumpie part.
The top of the nose (rear deck) was 2,5mm short on both sides. This was filled up with Evergreen and smoothed out.
I can go on and on...Â
Shrinkages were also found in the Aires set, but with some alterations this was made to fit.Â
The KG13 control stick in the Aires set looked like it went on hunger strike. I 3D printed a new one.
Â
I bought a Vacform machine and am now trying to make new Vacform transparencies. We'll see how that turns out...

What amazing posts! Thank you MDriskill I am super grateful for this sort of thing and supported with such great reference - it really helps with builds like this to have engaged wingmen so again thank you and please drop any nuggets you feel like in here
Â
Not had too much time at the bench as I got ready for and attended Telford - fabulous show and thanks to all those that either stopped by or bought some goodies :)
Â
That said, I have been getting the cockpit components together..
Â
LH sidewall with throttle & trim wheel..
Â
Â
RH sidewall with oxygen regulator..
Â
Â
lower control unit for something or other..
Â
Â
oxygen tanks behind the seat and a lever to the left of it..
Â
Â
..some kind of contraption that goes behind the seat offset to the right..
Â
Â
control column and rudder bars with their bulkhead..
Â
Â
pilot's seat & frame..
Â
Â
instrument panel..
Â
Â
lower IP
Â
Â
Â
..it will sort of go in here..
Â
Â
I think I have most of the bits now, just need to work out a fitting order

Cees Broere got a reaction from tomprobert in What do YOU think?
I have always loved the older Revell/Hasegawa kits as they didn’t take so much time painting the interior. And if needed detail can be added without going overboard.  One of the reasons I have gone back to 1/48. Now I finish a model within a reasonably short space instead of years.
cheers

Cees Broere got a reaction from Gene K in RAF FG.1 XV571 WILD HARE Phantom Conversion
Anthony,
Its all your fault. Thanks to you I had to persevere and look what happened. I have ended up with not one,
but two UK Phantoms, a FG-1 and FGR-2. The horror!
But seriously, as that Collins chap used to say, I still think that dreary grey livery you plan to use is wrong.

Cees Broere reacted to dennismcc in Hawker Typhoons in 1/32 scale?
Mine required some old style modelling skills, it must have been a Friday afternoon jobbie.
The finish on the resin was a bit scabby, the wings were warped, the fuselage halves were warped and there was air bubbles everywhere, mine did not have the lining up bit on the top of the nose and required some "persuading" to line up.
The wing to fuselage joint was also interesting.
And the air bubbles and thin and cracked fuselage.
However all it took was a bit of old fashioned modelling to put right and the end result was to my mind spot on.
I once built two identical resin Yak 1b kits and they varied so much, it's seems to be just the luck of the draw

Cees Broere got a reaction from thierry laurent in Hawker Typhoons in 1/32 scale?
Thanks Thierry,
and you are of course correct, but hey I have never shied away from a challenge. Until a good kit becomes availabe
I have to cobble something presentable together. With all due respect the MDC Typhoon is terrible. Uneven
fuselage halves, heavy warping of parts.

Oh absolutely mate! This build would be nothing without the help of a lot of other people.
I cant thank enough Kerry, @Derek B, @Gene K, @Greg W, @scjh, @Iain in the early days....... my goodness I am too scared to do a list because the help has been endless, even just the encouragement from people like yourself, @wunwinglow, @airscale, @chuck540z3, @Ali62, @Cees Broere, @Marcel111, @vvwse4, @Spooky56, @Starfighter, @AlbertD, @DonH, @Troy Molitor, @Tony T, @scvrobeson @Kagemusha, @LSP_Kevin, @mozart, @spyrosjzmichos, @Barry, @GMK, @Chek, @jenshb, @Jet Passion, @Turecki, @Landrotten Highlander, @IainM, @jimbo59, @Rainer Hoffmann, @geedubelyer, @easixpedro, @D.B. Andrus, @MDuv,  @thierry laurent......honestly these are the names that just quickly pop into my head, but I know that as soon as I hit submit I am going to remember more, and I am going to feel terrible about that! I honestly appreciate everyones help and support, as well as a bunch of guys over at Britmodeller!
Â
And sadly, Mike @seiran01, it's all his fault! He sold me the kit and conversion......and mate, I thought we were friends!
Â
Sorry if I missed anyone out, I hate making lists like that because you invariably set yourself up to fall by forgetting someones valuable comment at just the right time, or part supplied to make my life a little easier.
Â
THis hobby has changed for sure, but only for the good!Â
Now I need to hurry up and finish this so you guys get a state of the art Brit Toom in 1/32!
Â
Cheers Anthony

Cees Broere got a reaction from Mr.T in Hawker Typhoons in 1/32 scale?
Morning chaps,
Interesting thread. I am currently working on a Revell Tiffy combining the Barracuda Tempest nose correction.
After two major RAF Phantom conversions I wanted something simpler hohum.
Although I always liked the Revell kit, though basic by todays standards, it’’s a good starting point. But
the starboard cowling panel never seems to fit without serious filling and sanding.
The fit of the resin is doable but the difference in wing thickness should be interesting.
Has anyone experience with such a conversion?
Cheers
