MustangManiac
Awesome work there Bruce! Yellow 10 was always one of my favorite Focke Wulf 190s. I actually have the D-13 Conversion set myself on a to do list. Cheers, Brady

Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, I decided to add tiny actuator rods for the radiator cooling flaps early on in the builds and drilled holes to take 0.5mm Plastruct rod. Once I had the noses painted and installed I extended the holes into the conical front part of the main fuselage and glued in the rods. After the glue had set I trimmed the rod with cutters and sanders then repainted the colours on the mangled bits. Thunnus
As a Dora fanatic, your Focke Factory is mesmerizing. Very cool to see the D-13 and Big Tail in the mix!

Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, Another fun filled day at the Focke Factory. I masked up and airbrushed the bare metal lower wing sections on the Big Tail D-9 and Number Four. Then I started on the cammo on Number Four using MMP versions of RLM 82 and 83 then added the grey which was used to obliterate the original German markings. BiggTim
Bruce, what brand of hellgrun RLM 25 do you plan to use on the D-13 spinner? I'm trying to decide what to order, as there are no hobby shops in my area.
Bruce_Crosby
Hi Tim, Now that's a question! I still don't know what I'm going to use. As a Ex-Armour modeller I find the whole Luftwaffe colour thing a total minefield. Nobody, and I mean nobody, agrees what colour is true and what isn't. Plus they are all working from mainly black and white photos and at best it's a guess. My models have got paint on them from Mr Color, Aqueous Hobby Color, MRP, Tamiya and the new MMP. None of the shades are anywhere near each other. But I digress: you want to know the green on the spinner. I'm tempted to use MMP Basic Green and play around with it to get a shade that I like. Or I might use something else and use the Basic Green with MMPs Transparent Medium to glaze over. The rest of the airframe is all MMP but I've substituted their RLM80 for their RLM 83 which isn't a dark green by any stretch of the imagination. The good thing is that it's IPMS at Telford in a few days and I'm on a mission this year. Not buying any kits, just paint and tools, mainly paint. The pile of Kurt Tank specials here are the Focke Factory hasn't gone down at all by building these four Doras or the other four I built this year in 1/48 scale, so lots to do! BiggTim
I was thinking I may have to mix my own as well, but I did find a Model Master acrylic color called "signal green" That looks close to the color in Jerry's book. I may have to try and round up one and see. Tim
Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, A selection of photos of today's work. This morning I applied panel line washes to all four models, then had a late lunch. Afterwards I sprayed on Vallejo Satin Varnish, took the masking off the canopies and had some playing around with how they look. I had spent the whole weekend struggling with the decals, all Eagle Cals. They are printed really sharply but very stiff and Micro Set/Sol wasn't up to the job of budging some of the two colour items. No particular order, have a look.
