Lee White
As the old proverb goes, "man driving Porsche has iron willpower". And hellacious repair bills. Bill Cross
Hubert Boillot
And hellacious repair bills.Actually, compared to other sports cars, especially italian ones, Porsches are not that expensive to maintain, or repair ... Not really more than any other German sedan... And definitely far more practical to drive daily. But, you'd better avoid going to Porsche Centers. In France at least, they have a nasty tendency to think you have a 7 digits (positive, of course) bank account position ... BiggTim
I support you Bill!! You've made the sane and wise choice. Way to be a good example! Rick Griewski and Bill Cross
Iain
You lost me at 'Porsche' I'm the last one to help/advise Bill. I decided I *wasn't* going to buy the Trumpeter 1:200 Hood - saw one at Telford going 'cheap' (relatively, anyway) and *had* to have it. Then I saw the accessory set that Pontos were working on - so that's more than doubled the price I paid for the kit itself!! As others have said - the 'G' engines would do fine - and, IMHO, a lot of the detail you can purchase for the interior simply isn't seen. HKs B-17G has been great fun for me so far... I'll stop now, probably not helping!! But admire your willpower Iain Bill Cross and David66
Bill Cross
You guys all suck. Kidding. Mostly. You DON'T HELP. If AA meetings went like this, there would be no RECOVERING alcoholics. Shoggz
Bill, I am currently in exactly the same position. I've had the B17 in my eModels 'basket' for about three weeks now as the angel and devil on each shoulder whisper in my ears! gingerbob
And this is why I build (I keep doing that) buy 1/48. Except for those two stacks off in the corner there, of course... David66 and Bill Cross
K5IKL
But last night I woke up in the middle of my not-so-ugly-sleep to pee (old guys like me have to pee at least once in the middle of the night), and it hit me. Just once during the night. You must still be pretty young. I have to get up to pee about every 2 hours. Bill Cross
Bill Cross
It's OK - you're amongst friends Bill - we understand Iain Thanks, Iain. I know most of y'all are laughing until you piss yourselves, but I would if I were in your shoes. Bill, I am currently in exactly the same position. I've had the B17 in my eModels 'basket' for about three weeks now as the angel and devil on each shoulder whisper in my ears! Maybe next year if I can drastically reduce the stash.... Who am I kidding, there's the two WNW kits on order and a USMC Abrams. And this is why I build (I keep doing that) buy 1/48. Except for those two stacks off in the corner there, of course... I would think quarter scale is even worse temptation because so many kits that aren't out in 32-scale are there to tempt you. Just once during the night. You must still be pretty young. I have to get up to pee about every 2 hours. I said "at least" once. Cialis every day has helped the problem AND the Missus likes the "side effects," too. MikeMaben
Resistance is futile. Buy it and sleep better. You'll still pee but you'll feel better about it. The doctor is in... Uncarina, David66 and Bill Cross
Guest Peterpools
Bill Seems we're close to the same age: I never regretted the following and if I didn't do it when I was younger, I never would have. I bought my plane and loved flying her every minute I've owned my Porsche and collected my share of tickets Our pool and all the goodies with it. I love my Nikons And the list goes on. Most are now gone but the memories remain. We only go around once, so enjoy life as long as long as it is in the budget. One one trip to the bathroom at night: sounds great to me. Buy the B-17 and all the goodies, sit her down at the bench and start building. The worst of all is to say at the end: I only wish I did!
