Working on the drop tanks. Printed in 2 pieces. How to join them??

Well I printed out another set, but stopped when the print was about an inch high. I then cut a notch out of these partial tanks, squashed them down a little and inserted them into the tank halves to serve as connector.

Next I worked on installing some "Optics" into the periscope fairing.

Work has slowed a bit as I work on getting the cockpit and windows figured out.

Here are the window inserts. One has been sanded, the other still has putty. These will be used to create the curved windows. Not sure if I will smash mold these or vacform them.

And my first take on the escape capsule. This is my addition to the project. It is still a little rough and will need to be improved. Into this capsule I will be adding an F-105 resin seat. The Republic F-105 seemed like a good donor for the Republic F-103.

And a little more.

Here is the F-105 seat that I will be using.

And a refined, improved capsule with seat.

Also a small improvement to the main gear bay. The original files from Chad neglected to account for the main gear geometry and is not quite right. Here I have marked out an area that needs to be cut out. There will be an additional door that will open down in this area. No biggie, an opportunity for some custom improvements.

Sometimes I just get a wild hair. So today I decided to spray on a light tack coat of gloss black lacquer. This will be sanded until very smooth and then a final wet coat will be applied.

I think that my original radar scope was too small so I cut it off and added a new larger one.

And last for today are the aftermarket F-105 wheels. They just came today.

Worked on capsule and seat details today.

This is the aftermarket seat with some of the PE added. PE and I do not get along. Instead of using all of the PE seatbelt parts I used some clear vinyl from an old shower curtain. It is hard to see the actual belts. Should look much better with some paint.

I have added some generic sidewall details.

And seat in capsule. Still missing the protective cover that swivels up to enclose the capsule.
