With the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands coming up , two of Kintetic's finest .

GR3 based off HMS Hermes and Major Tomba's Pucara . I still need their Sea Harrier FRS1 ..........mmmm Xmas ....Mrs PW .....?.

FYI - Carlos Tomba was shot down by a Sea Harrier flown by the boss of 800 NAS on Invincible , Commander Nigel  "Sharkey" Ward . In his excellent, if somewhat controversial book "Sea Harrier over the Falklands" he describes how he shot down Major Tomba, and expresses a real respect for his enemy, who despite having both engines shot out one after the other , stuck with his aircraft until it was at 40 feet , before safely ejecting and surviving the war.

My GR 3 is still in the mail but the Pucara arrived this week. Raised and recessed rivets, flattened tires with tread detail, the molding is exquisite all over! I’m currently reading Jerry Pook’s book about GR 3’s in the Falklands.

Cheers,  Tom

If you choose to do XV997 , the Op Corporate GR3, let me know and I'll share resources. The actual aircraft is on display at Hendon and I have got the full history sheet for it . The ATB book about the Falklands also has some pics of it as well as Tomba's Pucura.

If only all the stuff was available in man size ,in stead of quarter scale only  it would make a great GB ........... Harriers, Mirages , Skyhawks, Etendards , Pucaras...Wessex , Puma ....

Oh well at least there will be three new Bf109s next year ................:mental:

I've been looking for an "affordable" one of these old Hobby Craft Sea Fury kits for quite a while - this one popped up on Ebay for $80 which seemed a little expensive, until I noticed that it included Paul Fisher's Cockpit Up-grade set, brand new, in the box, never even opened. Just had to jump on it!

And yes, that Fisher cockpit up-grade set (with correct canopy) is spectacular. Now I need to find Paul's up-grade sets for the spinner/prop and wheels... ;)

Cheers!

John.
