And just to show that I'm not joking, here is how far I've gotten: Bottom hull being cladded with aluminum skin and plugs for the upper parts... I remember my father introducing me to Martin & Osa's adventures in Africa & Borneo many, many years ago. As a kid I built Italeris Cant with zebra stripes! It looked horrible but ever since I've been wanting to do the Sikorsky S-38. I've aquired the plans from the Sikorsky Archives. It will be a long term project for sure, but it will get there at some point! quang
Oohh what a coincidence I’m very interested in Martin and Osa Johnson myself especially their Sikorsky S.39 Spirit of Africa and Borneo. I did consider to build a 1/48 from scratch using the drawings from Paul Matt’s Historical Aviation Album before the hiatus. Here’s a photo of a modern reconstruction named Spirit of Igor (Sikorsky). Lastly I was planning to finish my Airfix Walrus in the same giraffe scheme before I changed my mind. Here’s my attempt to make a mask for the spots Looking forward to see the progress on your S.38. scvrobeson
Holy poop! A Rapide and an S-38? Kent, you truly know how to make me happy. Great work so far, looks like the Lukgraph kit is a pretty good one with just a few things to fix and improve. Matt kkarlsen
spyrosjzmichos
Looking forward to more updates Kent! Waiting for my kit to arrive, too, and will be following your build progress closely! kkarlsen

quang
Holy molly, a restored Rapid 3 kilometers from where I live . And in a nice colour scheme at that! Out2gtcha, kkarlsen and mozart
mozart
It's always lovely to see a Rapide, but I can't agree about the "nice colour scheme" though Quang, it's possibly the most unattractive I've seen, and that includes wartime camouflaged ones! Those people in Lancashire clearly had little taste (in my opinion!) quang and kkarlsen 1
quang
One thing for certain, Max, we definitively have different tastes in colour As a matter of fact, the colour used by the Lancashirians is affectionately known as Surf Green among electric guitar aficionados. Very trendy in the early 1960s mozart and kkarlsen 1
RLWP
By coincidence, I drove past Bidford airfield today, and there is a Rapide there (G-AHAG) Richard kkarlsen

Just kidding... I haven't been able to get much work done at the current temperatures here in Denmark, sorry were just not used to 25 degrees plus... Correcting the rear windows... Hoping the weather will turn, so that I can get on with the build Before moving on: I'm thinking of painting the cockpit light grey instead of british grey green... Would that be a no go? RLWP
That's the one If you are not keen on spending time on the interior, she has a close fitted cover over the cockpit windows Richard kkarlsen
