chrish
Thanks! I'm honored having such accomplished modelers compliment my build! Painting is underway. Like many of my builds I had a bit of a hard time determining what actual color to put on the model, not having any Revell paints in my inventory (what is it with Revell and their darn paint?!) Like most of my builds it took almost a full bottle to get color on the model, unlike most of my builds I've only used a few strips of masking tape... so far. Thanks for looking LSP_Kevin, johncrow, Gazzas and 3 others
chrish
I got a bit more painting done today (in self isolation til...June? leaves a lot of time to model) a bout of masking was needed to get some details right. I gave the model a scrub down with an old sock and then 8000 grit wet/dry (used wet) sand paper. I should be ok to go ahead with decals now. The instructions include a pattern for the fuselage top walkway, I cut it out in tape. Phartycr0c
Just caught up with this build, lovely work, and as if you needed some further inspiration As you said, a 1/48 one of these would be something else! chrish, Lothar and Derek B
chrish
Thanks for the encouragement! something about this plane just makes it so “centre stage” to me. It definitely has a presence in my hobby room! I’ve used the tail to knock over paint jars and spill water a few times. LSP_K2
My pal has a C-17 here; same problem, knocking stuff over because the kit is so bulky.

chrish
Thanks for looking, and encouragement! I knew decals would take a while, but it's taken me all weekend to paint/ mask/ paint and decal the props! I broke a few blades off the hubs during seam cleaning. Alclad gloss black primer and Alclad airframe aluminum over top an old drafter eraser shield proved a good match for the leading edge masks masking and painting; all the blades finally finished and decals in place Thank you for looking rafju, Gazzas, Kagemusha and 5 others

chrish
Thanks for the kind word guys! I started putting decals on the model on Friday evening, I put the last ones on tonight...epic decal placement! I got the landing gear and sponsons on, washed the model with soapy water to remove the setting solution stains and should be able to satin coat next and finish assembly and wrap this up now. Thanks for looking! LSP_K2, rafju, Kagemusha and 2 others
LSP_K2
I like it a bunch. Now I'm tempted go go ahead and snatch a kit.
