Shawn M
thx Henry! Spent some time tonight finished up the MG151 sub assembly started work on the radio set, added a back filler piece and chipped off the un used bottom portion. Added the AIMS PE face(s) as I had a random BF-109 resin pit laying about, the control stick seemed awful close to that of a 110 just shorter...so I lengthened it with the kit part and finished off the wiring that damn MG wiring and resin Electric and Air boxes took WAY more time then they should, but I enjoyed it. The extra work I put into the actual MG's was not worth it as you cant see any of it! BradG, LSP_Kevin, MikeMaben and 8 others

mozart
Agreed Shawn, the MG assembly is very fiddly and time consuming for an item that is hardly noticeable......but it has to be done doesn't it? You've done a good job by the looks of it! Shawn M
Shawn M
Thanks guys! I really wanted to keep adding stuff to the 151's, however lack of information, pics and eyesight stopped me lol. I've got some more priming to do before I start actual paint. I've gone and fitted/pinned the FUG220 masts and drilled them out for the master aerials. I need to figure out how in the world Im going to assemble them still.
Alain Gadbois
Hi Shawn! Just read through the thread and very fine modeling all around. About those LG parts, we all make assembly mistakes! Luckily it had no consequence. Makes me think when I glued left and right Ho229 top wings together. Didn't notice until I started gluing the lower halves together and that second wing seemed so much thinner than the first! Was able to pry appart and glue back correctly .... Anyway, keep up the good work! Alain Shawn M

Shawn M
still here plodding away, started working on the cockpit subassemblies as I continue to procrastinate on actually painting anything on the wings lol
Shawn M
ok here are some pics for you guys! going through some personal stuff atm so progress and updates may be slow for awhile here you can see the seat back mod work and the rudder pedals another shot of the same sidewall detail, added a flashlight, some plumbing and a structural piece i noted in some pics I had to bend the bottom edge of this PE part to clear the cockpit floor started working on the ammo crates and all their PE bits While not as intricate as others, I did tweak the throttle quadrant a bit and added some detail to the other console You can see in the background the pilots belts have been bent to shape. This is the first time I've annealed PE before bending it and WOW what a difference it makes. BloorwestSiR
Great work Shawn. It really makes a difference when you anneal the PE bits that have to be folded/draped. Carl Out2gtcha and Shawn M

Working with non-annealed PE VS annealed, is like the difference between trying to push cooked VS uncooked spaghetti! Shawn M
I'd always heard people do it, figured I had more then enough spare belts and materials should I make a mess of it. No going back now thats for sure! Out2gtcha

No going back now thats for sure! Yep, the first time I tried to glue down non-annealed PE, and it literally sprang back at me off the seat, I swore off PE belts, but after a buddy at my club showed me some annealed PE (it flexed like lead belts!) I figured it was definitely down to me and not the belts. Shawn M
Shawn M
I've always pre bent my PE using a multitude of tools and techniques to minimize that dreaded spring back. The issue I consistently ran into, was getting kinks instead of smooth curves with the non annealed stuff. You're right, they bend like lead now which is a real treat as I usually make my belts from Wine foil. Out2gtcha
Alain Gadbois
Good trick, is it possible to do the same with pre-painted parts? Alain
