Hmmmmmm,..........definitely see what you mean regarding the leading edge extensions having a pronounced curvature to them Ron. I have the same kit and decal sheet as well. Hopefully the LEX on both sides can be adjusted to a straight profile while gluing them but that is unfortunately a little too late for you. Nonetheless your build is looking really sharp and I doubt that anyone else will notice the anomaly unless you point it out to them. Has dry fitting the tails revealed any fit issues?

I wish Leading Edge would do some of the older Hornet schemes in 1/32nd for this kit. The "bug" scheme or the Millennium Hornet scheme would be awesome! It would be nice if Flight Decs did the Tiger Meet scheme in 32nd as well. I have all these schemes for the Hasegawa 1/48 scale kits but these were all produced before there was any real viable 1/32nd hornet kit available. We can only hope!

Keep up the fantastic work Ron!

Thanks Peter

I agree Wolf,  I doubt the strakes could be straightened when glued (they are pretty rigid) and made to look right but I could be wrong.

The tail isn't perfect but I think I have a fix. The decal overlaps the joint so careful gluing and some future as decal set should hide it.  Applying these decals with the vertical stabs glued in place would really be a challenge.

I am still decaling tonight. Just finished the fuse.

Thanks for looking

Ron,

Unfortunate. Can you remove the warning decal above the strake and maybe reapply one that's been cut down horizontally?

Ron,

Great work! I think the problem is that the LEX is attached too high on the fuselage for some reason. I've done the same kit 2 times and it should look more like this:

Pic removed

Note the canopy sill to LEX distance and the lack of significant curvature. I'll take this pic down once you've had a look.

Cheers,

Thanks guys,

Actually it's impossible to assemble the LEX to the fuse incorrectly.  It has a huge locator tab at the very front of it to locate it to the fuse. The stencil decal you have there is much smaller than the one I have but that's also a two seater so it looks like more room but I think it's the same as mine in the forward area. You can still see the hump in the LEX in between the two seats.

Please keep the pic up unless you need to remove it.

Thx

Sorry Ron, I stand corrected. It's funny that Leading Edge would get the decals the right size on some of their decal sheets for this very kit, but not others.

Can you remove the big warning decal and then apply a smaller version from a different sheet?

Hi Ron,

Sorry to read of your woes but I'd like to thank you for alerting everyone to the LEX shape issue.

I had never noticed it but now I'll be aware of it if I ever get around to the Hornet I have in my meagre stash.

Cheers.

Thanks all,

I doubt it Chuck, they are set down for good with decal set.  I think I'll leave it alone. With the canopy open I think it will be tough to notice it's placement is off.

I am pretty much done decaling now.  Just the flaps to do.  Time to work on a final clear coat, landing gear and attach all the little bits!
