It's coming together.  This kit impresses me, it is definitely Tamiya grade quality.  The intakes were a bit problematic but with a little work they fit pretty good. They will need a small smear of putty but that's really it.  The strakes look like they will require some fit work as well. They are next.  I did mount the front landing gear. A few more build sessions and it will be in for paint.

We shall see, it is complicated looking at the instructions but so far I am pretty impressed with the kit.

FYI, for those following but are usually old prop farts like me,  Lerx is leading edge root extensions, the wingy bits that follow up the fuse to or past the intakes.

Not to nit-pick but they are LEX fences (I know the first guy called them lerx).

Sorry, having worked CF-18s I had to correct this. :)

Awesome progress on the Hornet. Terrific work on both the front office and nose gear.

Keep 'em coming

Looks really good. Glad to see you making such good progress on it. The G-Factor gear are really nicely detailed, and should be able to easily support the weight of the model.

Don't see too many Canadian Hornets built, will look forward to the rest of this one

Thanks

I am close to being ready to paint.  I can't decide if I should mount the flaps and slats now then paint or paint then add them. What do you guys think?

The Leading Edge decal set is very nice and very complete right down to injection seat and landing gear plycards.

Great progress so far and that sheets looks great I assume you're leaving off the tails till the very end? The fit on mine wasn't that great so I opted to install them before painting....

as for your Q regarding the flaps and slats I too would leave them off makes painting a bit less problematic as the slats tend to be in the way for a smooth finish on the rear fuselage sides, at least on my build anyway I kept them on on that build next ones I'm doing they're off for sure, just install the hinges and you should be good the fit was very good on those parts....

Where does time go? I went through all of May and June without even touching a build. Today a managed a little work but not enough to post progress. Built some pillions, finished seam work,  sanded the canofpeas seam out and polished.  That 's about it.

Rejoice! a miracle has occurred.....

It's so hot here I needed some time in the cool basement (AC isn't installed in the now two year old "new" house yet) and there is paint on plastic! All undersides and underside bits are now under paint.   I will post some pics
