otis252 got a reaction from mgbooyv8 in Italeri F-35A RNethAF
Looks like it's going together pretty well. I just wish an aftermarket company would address the most glaring weakness of the kit in my mind. The woefully undersized afterburner nozzle replaced with a larger one would change the look of the kit a lot to my eye. Thanks,
Chuck

Looks great, can't wait to get one. Looks like they've included the engine intake screens, although not sure how they're done.

Great start! I wish one of the AM guys would do a replacement afterburner nozzle to replace the woefully undersized kit piece. Maybe one day.

Very impressive work! As you are basing your modifications on drawings I have to ask - are you sure the drawings are accurate? According to my experience, most drawings with cross sections look great but the provided cross sections rarely actually match the 3-view drawings.

OK, now I have the IP cowling, I need some good photos, I have some refs, but not enough to do it correctly. After doing the googly thingy, I might have enough refs now.

otis252 reacted to Dave Williams in ZOUKEI MURA 2019-2020 - NEW P-51B/C, Bf-109G and Ar-234 ANNOUNCED!!!!!!
If the ZM kit doesn’t resemble a P-51D when finished, what does it resemble? I’ve never heard that the kit had any serious shape issues, and certainly nothing to support the statement that it didn’t resemble a P-51, or the other hyperbole that the ZM lays smoldering under the pile of reduced price offerings.
Yes, the kit is over engineered, like many of their kits, and has some incorrect internal details like spars and formers, but most of that stuff gets hidden when the model is built and painted, so at most it’s extra work that doesn’t add much to the final product, but doesn’t really detract from it either because it can’t be seen. The fit may not be quite up to Tamiya standard either, but what is, and isn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination.
Can you relate what some of the “shape issues” are?

Has anyone else had problems with the site, especially the forums? It has been running slow and was not accessible at all last nigh. Every other site I visited was working perfectly. Thanks.

My dad used to do maintenance and training on the Hellcat in WWII. Master Sergeant USMC. He had a balsa and paper model that he did up with all sorts of realistic controls and had it as a control-line flying model before R/C was practical. He really had some stories on these and the Corsairs and I'm sure he'd appreciate this kit. Sadly he's long gone.

Great work so far. Trust me, Harold's wheels are well worth the investment, they are great!

Those wheel wells really look great, it's shame we can't get the G-Factor gear anymore.

Can we just discuss the kit we are actually getting please and not the kit we want or would prefer, or even debate about what is coming or not for the foreseeable future, side tracking is fun, but it sort of killed the original B-24 Liberator thread where it needed moulded to another and was sad to see my sincere Lib crash and tribute post got deleted too as a tangent.
Right here and right now, Airfix are releasing a 1/24 a Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat, can we please focus on this, because this is the kit we are going to get for the foreseeable future.

Hey Harold, looking at the kit seat, what you've done is incredible. I'd love to have seen what you can do with the belts, but the seat is a massive improvement. Thanks so much.
