so happy to see progress on this build! Your improvisation and problem solving are great!

I just spoke with my buddy Alfonso Rodriguez about this.  He know as much about this as anyone about Corsairs with the exception of Dana Bell.  He mentioned 740 had a replacement wing from an older Corsair, possibly a birdcage with the old blue gray/gray scheme.  He said Fundecals has the marking right.  He also mentioned the US national insignias were sating and had more of a sheen than the rest of the aircraft.  If you can get a copy of "Swashbucklers and Black Sheep," I shows how truly filthy these things were in the field, often not replicated in some builds.  Check out some of the armor weathering on www.missing-lynx under "Constructive Comments" to see some weathering techniques that would work great on a Solomon Islands Corsair!
 
DDG was only made my one company and it's OPP, but a near dead ringer (ironically) is Model Master Japanese Aircraft Carrier  Type 1:)!  740 was an early -1a which likely has the various sub contractor parts in DDG, although I can't say what (seat?).

Will definitely be getting 1 of these. Prefer a -3 but..... Still it's a GREAT looking Hellcat and in 1/24, shhhh#####t, I soil myself thinking about it! Also of note is the fact that they got the PW R2800 correct! If the sprues are obtainable, it's a GREAT fix for the toylike 1/24 P-47 power plant with minimal work on the distributor differences....blah, blah, blah! Mileage/Knowledge may vary! Lol

Incredible! yes, lots of trade orders earlier today, but the first retail sale of the B24 was to you, just as it was for the Lanc

I'll wager HobbyBoss found a set of drawings and worked from those, with reference to online photos/books for details - and the model isn't based on any specific airframe.
 
What surprises me - and this isn't a dig at anyone, but an an observation - I'm really surprised that more modellers don't see it as a canvas on which to have a play and expand their skill sets?
 
There seems to be lots of 'waiting' until aftermarket accessories become available, when a little scratchbuilding/conversion of parts will open up a huge variety of possibilities...
 
Have we lost the skills?
 
Or is it fear of having a go at something new?
 
Confidence?
 
The kit is far from perfect - but it has so much potential - would love to see more being built!
 
I'll get back on mine once my two-seat Spit is finished.

Don't get too hung up on the oily bits.
Pick the best of the bunch from what you have for the front faces.
If anybody is stupid enough to start shining a torch in there then they are going to get a slap anyway.

Sad times indeed as it seems that for less than $30 bucks, peoples is crying about some some **** that even 25/30 yrs ago would be an op to be a MODELLAR!

Wrong. 30 years ago, informed people regularly complained about Revell's 1/32 P-51D being a piece of junk - even though it retailed for less than a third of the price of what was then the "good" P-51D from Hasegawa. And, people were far less informed than they are today, making that "junk" conclusion far more difficult to arrive at. 

 
Funny thing though: 30 years ago if someone complained about other people having an intelligent conversation, they would have been dismissed as lunatics (or worse). Apparently, that behavior has become acceptable.
