RBrown reacted to Rick K in 1:1 Revi-12C/D Gunsight
Test fit on the base.
Crash pad painted with various shades of brown with highlights accomplished with "pre-shade", oils and dark panel line wash followed by an overall varnish Tamiya X22 Clear. Crash Pad is dry fitted.

Centerline bomb now painted, again. I’ve noted that on many bombs of this nature, there seem to be reddish brown bands painted in the area of the shipping rings, so I have now masked and painted these. Bomb stripe decals are pretty much worthless, so I'll just paint those on. Fingers crossed.

MiG Black Smoke powder enhances the exhaust stain. MiG Standard Rust powder highlight the exhaust tips.
Landing gear doors and dive break added. Lead wire used for the plumbing.
Tail wheel secured. That Salmon Pink Primer MRP130 looks pretty cool. MiG Industrial City Dirt to be applied to the main wheels.

Some engine work.
The Eduard PE ignition cables just did not work for me. Let the drilling begin. Drill love to every cylinder and behind ignition harness. Then some fine copper wire.
Wiring done...
Reduction gear box and harness ring painted and given a wash pick out the details. PW decal added.

The finished IP. Not bad at all, if I do say so myself.

RBrown reacted to Martinnfb in Airfix To Re-Release Classic 1:24 Mustang
I wish that Airfix would get off their lazy chair and release a brand new molding of the big P-51. You can put lipstick on a pig only so many times.

RBrown reacted to spook in French AD-4N Skyraider
Hi all
Here my last built: a Trumpeter Skyrader built as a n AD-4 from GC 1/21 in Algeria in 1960 - 1961
Hope you lie it!

RBrown reacted to John1 in Early P-47 Markings
For those interested in the markings on early P-47's flying out of England in WW2, I strongly suggest you check out the instructions on Fundekal's newly released decal set (in 48th scale sadly). Say what you wish about our former member whose name cannot be uttered on this site, but the instructions he issues with his decals are superior all others. Lot of fascinating info for us nerds to binge on.

RBrown reacted to D Bellis in Looking for Aftermarket for the OLD Revell Spitfire/Seafire
Which is correct since the real Spitfire had raised rivets aft of the cockpit and flush fasteners (represented as recessed details) on the forward fuselage. I believe that kit was the first (only?) Spitfire kit to accurately represent those surface features.

RBrown reacted to LSP_K2 in Iwo Jima VLR Mustang - Tamiya 1:48 kit
As seems to be all too typical for me, I started this same scheme years ago, using the Hasegawa kit. When I moved, this too got lost. I also have decals for the same scheme in 1:32, to eventually be used on the big Tamiya kit.

RBrown reacted to marcopreto in 1:32 Bf-109 G-6/R-6 (using Revell's kit and Eduard's winderwing cannon pods)
Here are a few photos of my recently completed Bf-109 G-6/R-6, built using Revell's kit and Eduard's underwing cannon pods. Colours are from Vallejo's Model Air range.
It was a fun project, so much so, that I already have a couple more 1:32 scale warbirds on my to build pile!
Cheers

RBrown reacted to marcopreto in Revell's 1:32 scale Bf-109 G-6/R-6
A bit closer to completion!
I still need to add a few details, some general grime (mainly around the engine) and exhaust residues.
Cheers

RBrown reacted to Thomas Lund in IBG's 1/32 PZL P-11c, Wladyslaw Gnys' plane - first allied victor of WWII
In my continuing different nations quest, I have come to Poland - this is IBG's sublime 1/32 PZL P-11c. I cannot say enough good about this kit, I wish they would do more... I used a mater brass gun barrels, and btw this is the only 6 gun P-11c... I accidentally dropped not one but two barrels into the wings when mounting them and they refused to come out. Replaced the gear brace PE with a thin piece of steel wire as I bent the PE numerous times handling the kit. Also added HGW seat belts from scaps from other kits. Painted with Hataka laquer paint
BTW it is NOT an error that the wing upper surface national markings are not placed symmetrically. For some reason that was the way it was...
On the morning of september 1st Wladyslaw Gnys shot down to german bombers for the first allied victories of WWII. However Gnys' flight leader had provided Luftwaffe their first victory just a few minutes before...

RBrown reacted to chrish in Hasegawa 90's vintage Ki 43 Oscar
A one day short of a week to build. This was a partly built hand-me-down kit with the upper and lower halves of the wings glued together.
I've added nothing but tape seat-belts, lead wire ignition leads and brake hydraulic tubes. The kit was missing decals and a couple of clear parts so I painted the markings and beat it up a bit. Started last Sunday...
and after looking at images I realized I'd forgot the antenna. Added now
Thanks for looking

RBrown reacted to miketippingmodels in 1/32 Tamiya mosquito
let me present the 1/32 Tamiya mosquito, such a nice aircraft to build, also used were ICM ground figures.
There is some much detail in this kit its hard as to where do I start, but wait, you cart see it, it’s all covered up, well at least I know it's there.
the instruction book alone is a work of art, brilliant kit enjoy.
