Some kits are pretty darn good.  I very much enjoyed building the P-47 Razorback.  I'm enjoying their Dauntless right now.  I've also trashed many Trumpeter kits out of frustration.   I think it's very kit specific.

I used them on my JE-J Jr build.

Another option is to get the requisite sprue from the Tamiya XVI kit as all the E wing panels are on the one sprue.

I know what I needs to be converted, I just dont know where to find the parts.  I have the correct cannon barrels and 50 cal barrels from master, and I can close up the outer ports easily.   What I don't know where to find is the gun panel covers.  The ones in the Cwing kit have the bulge on the inside and I need them on the outside.

Back about 2004, Craftworks announced their 1/32 Val. Indeed, they were showing a sample at a few model shows. But as I understand it Craftworks was run by three guys and one was getting tired of it all and as so often happens with partnerships, their little company broke up. Since then I have been waiting for a Val (and Kate) kit in 1/32. Some years ago I found a 1/32 Val in carved wood (one of those made in the Philippines) offered on eBay so I bought that. Needs a lot of detailing but it is a Val.
Never could find a carved wood Kate, though. I have one of those 1/33 scale paper card Kate model kits but I have not cut it out and assembled it yet (probably never will).
I don't like fussing with such delicate dainty materials. This is a hobby, not a profession. If I cannot get pleasure from doing something in my hobby I don't do it.

A big thank you to the modelers whose pictures you'll see on my homepage.
A huge thank you to Marcel and Miro who took multiple pictures of their kits until the lighting and  pose of the images worked together so that I could merge them for the hero-pic. Thank you for tolerating my AMS!

My old website was cluttered, crowded, not mobile friendly and way beyond obsolete.
Not having a clue about building websites made this a real challenge.

The site still needs a lot of work. I was mostly focused on making the homepage and store before going live.
The "about us" page and "shipping details" are temporary and will be filled in when I get the time.
The "privacy policy" and "terms and conditions" are copy/pasted standard legal mumbo-jumbo that nobody reads or cares about.
I do plan to eventually add a customer build gallery and probably a few other pages for faqs, news, tutorials, etc. Just need more time...

Please let me know what you think, if you find any problems or have any suggestions.

    Happy New Year!

I've enjoyed watching the builds on Large Scale Planes for some time now, and only posted a couple of times I think in the last few years.  Most of my modelling posts are on ARRSE  for those of you that know it.  A few of us got a general modelling forum up and running on the site which has proved to be helpful for lads (and lasses) with issues following their time in service.  I wont bore you with the details but the medical term in 'mindfulness' - modelling is a great escape from people's daemons.  Anyway - this is my second 1/32nd build and I chose the Spad, which is my all time No1 in my top 10 of piston engine planes.  It's about 7 months graft (elapsed time).

Its a fascinating plane, carrying a greater payload than the B-17.  I spent quite a bit of time researching it, and one of the many interesting facts is it carried 40 gallons of oil, most of which ended up on the fuselage following missions.  Most of the pictures you see show light coverings of oil, but believe me, it was generally minging when landing - source was an old lad who used to work on them in the 60s in 'nam on aircraft carriers.

The model is largely out of the box.  Eduard etch used on the engine which I decided to expose in the end as it turned out OK - the ZM one is obviously stunning and I thought the Trumpeter engine wasn't good enough to expose, but a bit of graft got it there in the end.  Cockpit is Aires which I wish I hadn't installed as the fit was awful and it caused no end of problems with joining the fuselage.  The kit cockpit is good enough IMHO.  The tanks are red as the ground crew had a habit of painting things for amusements sake - tanks were red one Christmas - I suppose you could call it festive spirit.  Just before they bombed the North Vietnamese.

Ordnance is after market and cost a small fortune.  I'd have been better off getting a ZM ordnance pack or a ZM Spad kit in the end when I tally up the spend on it......  LAU-3s are from video aviation.  Most of the rest is Eduard Brassin.  I left the rubber tyres on in the end and an AMS prop is winging its way to blighty from Aus as we speak as the Trumpeter prop is not the best.  Nuff said - here is the build.

Alright! Woo Woo! After 6 pretty intense months and probably 400 hours, I'm calling this one done. It's my first large scale plane I've completed, which is something since I've started 3 or 4 over the years only to end in nothing. It's kind of mixed emotions thing now that it's done. I've been really hard on myself to keep the quality and accuracy maximized while at the same admitting I'm new and exploring and learning and failing all along the way. It's like a crash, I've worked really really hard to hide. The Fury is a great subject for scratch, a great plane to begin with, and a  gem in the history of fighter aircraft once one comes to appreciate “Interwarâ€, the planes  that WW2 aviation legends were all  built on. Shout out to Dr. Sydney Camm, who designed this beauty  and another shout out to things British, because they just have a place in my heart (though I'm American).

The build log was sadly lost mostly due to Photobucket's evil and my new blog was sort of a summary of shots I hope captures what it took to build it. There are no pictures of the blood ,sweat and tears but they are there. Like the pain of making  6 rudders, the two wings (actually failing in my second attempt) , the endless *f'in hours tuning the wingtips, searching eBay for tires after I had already spent a number of hours trying to make my own. The coats of surfacing and the sanding and the sanding and sanding. But in all these months this project was my release from a ton of work and the passing of my dog, Tess  so as tough as it was, it was a pretty safe distraction. Worrying about the lower wing dihedral is better than stressing on some deadline, right? I did admittedly have an affair along the way as we perhaps all do. I did a ton of research on the next build, the Bearcat. I learned 3D CAD and printing for that project, and I took a break and scratched a quick 1/72 Nike Hercules. Crazy kinda.

And finally and importantly. Thanks to all of you that supported me with kind words, very usable advice and even materials. In particular, Martin and Joe and Peter and Hubert and other scratch builders that inspire (Dan, Ben, Rich and Barney! ) Thanks! It's honestly much of the reason why I could push it and go beyond my range of comfort. And another note of thanks to Kevin for his work keeping LSP going through thick and thin. All the builds and the tips and tricks here really helped keep my motivation high: A requirement.

    Cheers guys!  Fury forever.

It's finally happened...  I finally have enough LSP's in my stash to drive me to get rid of some of my 1/48 single engined fighters.  I still have a few of the little ones to do...  Foiling projects, and a Gaspatch HS 123....  but I just find myself liking the opportunities that come with a larger model.  I still have some twins in 1/48...  but I don't see myself ever getting having enough space to put anything bigger.

I'm taking the little ones to a club meet today to see them off.

I've got over half my total flight time in the airframe.  From freighters to corporate birds, GE and Garrett engines, and C model through F model.  I've wanted for years to build a really nice one.  I have almost all the information a guy could want on the airframe, except good dimensional measurements.  I even contacted Dassault once to see about getting a good 3 view drawing to work off of but unfortunately they said couldn't be of assistance.   Unfortunately Dassault has mostly wiped their hands of the aircraft and does not prefer to work with it.  I may be able to talk with my Director of Maintenance at my current job and see if he has anything but things are a bit nuts with Covid.  If I can track anything down I'll pass it along.

Rare or not, I've got quite a few WnW kits, all of which I purchased because I like the aircraft they represent, and intend to build all of them.

The way I figure it, there will be many opportunities to make more money, but possibly no more opportunities to acquire the WnW kits I have.

Here is my Tamiya F-16. I really good friend gave me the kit anand it has been a wonderful reprieve from the world this past month.  Only addition is a Quickboost seat and Two Bob's decals.  Any F-16 expert could pick it apart but I had a ton of fun with it and I'm quite pleased with it.
