KitmodellerNZ got a reaction from Loach Driver in Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1A Corsair
Hi guys... yep, it's another Corsair.
I've just completed this build after 3 months and 3 weeks.
I used custom mixes of Tamiya Acrylics for the camo, Montex Masks for the Insignia and registration numbers, as well as the 'Angry Donald' decal. HGW fabric seat harness, Barracuda Studio's resin wheels, Alclad Aqua Gloss for the canopy glazing and AK Interactive and Ammo by Mig products for the weathering. Finished off with Alclad Flat Kote for the final coat.

KitmodellerNZ got a reaction from paul fisher in Future, Future and Future for canopies, we dont have it in RSA
Alclad Aqua Gloss gives a nice result too.
Another tip when dipping canopies is to dip the part in some glass cleaner such as Windex (must contain ammonia) and then into your clear of choice. The glass cleaner not only rinses the part, it breaks the surface tension which allows better coverage. I think it gives a slightly better result than dipping straight in the clear too.

Thanks, I'll get the wife to buy some window cleaner!
She's bound to agree, as she'll think that I intend doing our windows, silly girl

No need to let the cleaner dry. Into the glass cleaner, shake off the excess and straight into the clear.

Watching with interest. I have their other Wessex release in my stash. The resin parts included look amazing.

Absolutely stunning!
I'm currently building the F4U-1A kit and it really is an amazing piece of engineering.

KitmodellerNZ got a reaction from sandokan in Tamiya F-15C Kicked Up A Notch- Dec 1/17: DONE!
Possibly needed to thin mine more. I was using a 50/50 ratio and shooting at around 20psi. Happy with the result from the Mr Levelling thinner, although it isn't as easily obtainable here in New Zealand as the Tamiya Lacq is, so would prefer to stick with Tamiya if I can.

X-22 thinned with Tamiya Lacq thinner turns out a little rough, more of a semi gloss for me. Thinning it with Mr Levelling thinner and then misting on a coat of neat Mr Levelling thinner really turns on the gloss though.

Very nice work. Loving the look of that paint work!
I'm currently building the 1/32 Hornet too. I used the kit intake nacelles and got around the terrible fit by doing this...
Quite happy with the results
