I alwys loved the Falkland Phantoms for some reason, restrained but elegant.
As for a Royal Navy bird, the Colonial Navy Phantom always looked so very cool...

As do the A&AEE Raspberry Ripple Phantoms at Boscombe Down.

I think you are right on the MB,5, unfortunately, so hopefully that will leave you more open to a Wyvern (says the hopeful Dorset boy) or even the Supermarine Scimitar...

I was going to do the MB5 but I have a suspicion that aircraft without service history don't sell very well, after the Attacker will be another Royal Navy Naval and a German aircraft.

The 'Waste Gates' under the nose dump excess engine exhaust gasses.

The Turbocharger under the aft fuselage is the primary exit for the engine's exhaust gasses.

The fuselage side 'Intercooler vents' normally would only allow the exit of cooling air.

Here's my test shots of the paints I got and a comparison to the same photos in black and white.

What colors do you guys think look the closest to the original picture when you compare black and white photos? I'm leaning towards the Amber Grey and Tamiya's XF-76, but I want some others' input.

    Cheers,

I've been following this thread and find it to be fascinating, even though I have absolutely zero interest in a Blenheim. I'm more interested in the business model and seeing if this can really work (and hoping, or even praying that it does). What we have here could be the answer to so many "Why didn't they make 'X, Y or Z'?" posts, every time one of the big companies announces a new release. An opportunity for us guys who are into the more esoteric niches to have their chance at something that the big dogs are likely to never produce, or that I won't have to pay $300+ for to get it in resin, then spend six months of full time work to complete it. I sincerely wish Benoit the best in this venture and hope it turns out to be a winning formula, so that he (and others like him) can continue on a similar path and give those of us, who are fanatics for the more obscure, a shot at having what we really want. I think most of us also have to realize that stepping up to a challenge like this takes some big, brass balls and we have to respect him for that.

This might possibly be a very dumb idea, but how about varying the level of gloss finish so that certain panels or areas reflect less light giving the effect of oxidation, heat effects, wear and variation?  This is a monster of a build, seriously impressive Dan!

Hey guys. I am a little stumped, need some advice.

I am hoping to add some panel shading to add some relief to a monochrome airframe and am not sure how to do it.

I have tried some light gray pastels and they don't seem to make much difference. I have tried black pre-shaded panel lines but the blue paint is too dark.

    Any thoughts???

Le Lapin Mal reacted to D Bellis in How much further can kit quality go?
A good friend works in a specialty metals manufacturing plant, and they already operate 3D printers to create some repair and maintenance parts for their machinery. As 3D printing technology improves, their dependence on having parts shipped to them will decline commensurately.

Back on topic, it would be nice to see the accuracy achieved in the kits of 50 years ago by passionate craftsmen return with the level of detail that today's kits provide. Botching the outline while providing hidden detail has been more of a lateral slide than actual progress in the vast majority of the kits produced recently.

Yes, there are kits such as the new Tamiya Mosquito used as the example to start this thread, that are approaching the realm of perfection. But, examples of nearly perfect kits are very few and far between, not to mention quite expensive. When will the other 99.99% of the kits produced catch up, and thus reduce the cost?
