Hello Folks!
I am sorry that I am not a daily visitor to this forum.
However, now I am back and was quite surprised that some people here on the forum are taking interest in what I do.
It also seems that I have to explain myself. I am sorry that I don’t have an internet page for people to look at my products and ordering them (anonymously). I offer Facebook, instagram and an email address. People can get in touch, we can interact with each other, exchange the latest status or upcoming ideas. That’s what I love! That keeps me motivated!
I am doing all the design and print work in my spare time after work or at the weekend.
All my customers who dealt with me until now (from Canada, the US of A via the pond to GB and Europe to Japan and Australia) are very satisfied with my products and the way I deal with customers or the community!
I am sorry that I haven’t replied earlier, I hope you enjoyed your set from Iconicair.
I can wholeheartedly say that Mr Fischkopp makes excellent products and even though he doesn't have a website buying from him and commenting through Facebook worked very well! Recommended.
Regards. Andy

Managed some good progress on the wings during the week. First up I needed to fill the oil cooler recesses and with the excellent fit of the Kotare part I figured why bother with filler and use the kit part instead as so much easier and cleaner and with that it was chopped apart
and then the lower part glued in to place requiring minimal filler
I then cleaned up the lower blisters from the AML set and realised they have dropped the ball a bit in making them symmetrical which they aren't so I taped them together and sanded them down as much as possible.
Before
and after
May need some more adjustment and it is quite subtle but on side is flatter than the other as well as the bottom of the teardrop being much rounder.
A quick test fit along with the HB oil cooler which needs some remedial work regarding the shape. I've also added the Hispanno cannon shell ejector exits
Then on to the upper wing, some re-scribing and test fitting th resin bulges
Plenty of clean up to do but have a very clear mind where I'm going with this.

I finished the Hobbyboss kit a few years back as I wanted a Mk.Vb on the shelf, but I wasn't mad on it I must admit, and I wasn't terribly upset when the dog knocked it off the shelf and it fell to its death!
Just hope Kotare step up and do give us one this year - and a Vc would be fantastic too!
Failing that, I'll have to be brave like you Andy and attempt a Kotare conversion..
My thinking is that I have all the bits and pieces to do this conversion and seems a waste not to use them while I have a Spitfire building head on. Equally hoping Kotare go with a Vc rather than the Vb whenever but let's see.

Looking good Anthony but when can we have some paint please

This is seriously impressive, looking forward to seeing your build progress!

I decided to spend some more time sanding the deleted gun covers on the upper wings as Kotare have these sitting slightly proud on the kits which gives some nice visual interest but definitely not needed on the B wings smoothed out as best as I can.
and under a light coat of primer
very happy with how that has gone and now to the lower wing
Initial sanding complete and then under some primer
Pretty happy so far but will let everything cure and shrink back should it wish to before a final round of filling/sanding....how very painful.

Great idea Andy, and very brave but to quote Del Boy…..”he who dares wins Rodney!”
No going back now Max as the wing tips are off
I think I have remembered everything I need to do on this one and if so I'm thinking everything will come together quite nicely.

Very cool. I'll have to look for those decals. Kotare is coming out with a Spit Vb later this year so I'll wait until then as converting stuff doesnt seem to be working well for me lately.
James
Exito decl sets are just superb James but sadly to date they have only two 32nd scale sets which are always interesting subjects! Hopefully Kotare will release a Vb thos year now I'm going all out but seems a shame to let my AM stash for this go to waste.

Great and innovative project Andy. Will follow this one with interest!
Thank you Shoggz, think it will work out but just need to take my time.e on the wing conversion.

Agreed, great idea.
I haven’t seen a large nude on a Spitfire before. I wonder how long he was allowed to keep it.
Does the conversion include the oil cooler?
John
I've had the Exito Decals set for a while now and very nice indeed and it's this set which got me thinking about a Vb conversion.
The AML set contains only the wing bulges and Hispanno cannon ms but the Master barrels are a real step up from the resin pieces.
I'm going to use the oil cooler from a stalled and binned Hobby Boss Vb which looks pretty reasonable as a starting point and then a set of Tamiya clipped wing tips to finish thing off.

Very imaginative and inventive Andy!
Cheers, Tom
Hopefully I can pull this one off Tom! I have spent a fair bot of time test fitting various parts on to my early boxing before taking the plunge and chopping the wings about.

What a great idea for a build. The Vb is my favorite version. I’ll be following…
Been planning this one for quite a while, was going to use the Revell kit but the Kotare kit gets the nod now.

I've been wondering what to do with my Brian Lane boxing of the Kotare Mk.I Spitfire for a while and have been going through my stash of AM and decided on a plan to convert it in to a Mk.Vb and in particular this airframe from the Exito Decals set
I did have the Hobby Boss Mk.Vb and started on it many years ago but it's shape was awful being far to fat and flat in the general fuselage shape and the fit of the various wing panels left a lot to be desired. In the meantime I slowly collected some bits and pieces and while I've been working on my early Mk.I release I've decided no time like the present and make a start on this one.
First port of call is the wing assembly and converting it to a 'B' wing configuration . I have a set of Master Hispanno cannon barrels and AML wing bulges to help with this
First cuts so no going back now
I've also started filling unwanted panel lines etc, here is the lower wing
and initial work on the upper wings after filling and sanding
so far so good and think this should come together quite nicely, I've given it a fair bit of thought and have been test fitting various pieces to my early boxing of the Kotare Spitfire I'm building at the moment before I committed to chopping off the wings tips. More quite soon.

Hi Andy
Your Spitfire is so beautiful and I can't wait to see what happens next......including the start of the paintwork.
Gilles
I'm intrigued about the start of the paintwork as well Gilles and in particular the aluminium undersides! I need to have a play on some test parts and try and determine the best colour to use from the Vallejo Metal Colours I have.

Look at those clean lines! I’m reading Tom Neil’s “Gun Button to Fire” and just read about his first flight in a Spitfire….pure exhilaration and joy he says.

It's remarkable how one element can change the whole look.
The prop and spinner is a definite link back to the interwar biplanes.
Keep it up.
She is looking very sleek and that prop definitely has the feel of the biplane before it!
As others have said, the assembly sequence is very clever leaving no real join lines but rather panel lines. I have a couple of areas to clean up before paint but nothing major at all. I I'd find the fit of the wing assembly to the fuselage very difficult and tight so I'm assuming I did something wrong somewhere maybe with the wing fillet alignment?

Some more done and thank you for your kind comments. I now have everything together as in the main sub assemblies and now have a very nice early Spitfire
I forget how lazy having pre cut mask sets make us. Back to DIY on this one as nothing is there for for the time being

Why should it be unbuildable? 2mm is easily fixed.
And there are some here who are interested in that sort of information.
Personally, I’d rather see that encouraged.
I do apologise for my terrible humour Many a kit have been lambasted and been labelled unbuildable for less than this! Maybe time to go get back to the subject and go and get the Crowbar

They are is excellent reference books and have few volumes and their customer service is very good.

All looks a bit toy like and overdone really, especially the flaps but I'm sure under paint will look maybe better.
Great job on your cockpit as looks very nice.

I'm enjoying this one Mike, I really hope Kotare go for a Vc but if they do release a Vb I do hope they include necessary parts for the desert!
