timvkampen got a reaction from Derek B in How To Do a 1/32 European F-16A MLU Fighting Falcon ?
All experts chipped in, so I just add my link to my current project. I know Sierra Hotel is working on conversions for the near future but that may take some time.. All ingredients have been mentioned, but the book of Jake is fantastic. Also consider complementing it with Danny's book from Daco Productions.

It is too bad no company has put an effort in producing a proper A/B-model (early versions and MLU) as quite a few countries operate the types.

I just put a Gotha on eBay last week (part of the daughter-needs-money-series), with a starting price of $0.99 and it went for about $450. Also for about the same price went my Fisher X-1A/B!

timvkampen reacted to Derek B in EE Lightning
Hi Carl,
Perhaps I should have mentioned that it was the Heritage Aviation Models 1/24 scale vacform EE Lightning F.Mk.6 kit, but the Echelon 1/32 vacform kit is magnificent (and accurate) if you can get your hands on one.
Cheers

Agreed: Perhaps we should ask for a 1/24 Airfix Lightning...

timvkampen reacted to Royboy in EE Lightning
Sadly, (and I realise that things can change) the boss of Airfix when approached on their stand at Telford in 2015 and asked the question regarding 1/32 scale, said that Airfix had no interest in the scale and would concentrate on 1/24 scale instead.
The reason was the market was far less crowded and offered a wider choice of suitable subjects.
Perhaps we should ask for a 1/24 scale E.E Lightning instead?
We live in hope regardless!

I sent Airfix a suggestion to issue the EE / BAC Lightning in 1/32 scale. That may be solving these problems
It would be a great entrance in the 32-market for them.

timvkampen got a reaction from Lothar in Tamiya 1/32 Bf-109G rumours and anything else
sigh...where is the F-16A, B, MLU...F-14 new tool, F-22, F/A-18E/F and so on...And a Hellcat, P-38 in 32-scale...it would be amazing
But if this rumour is true then it is a positive sign Tamiya is still in the 32-market and cracking the Luftwaffe topics...Focke Wulf next?

I'd dump the Revell and Trumpeter Corsair kits, and snatch the Tamiya kit; it's outstanding in every way imaginable.

George I think the kind folks here are trying to avoid the elephant in the room. The Revell 1/32 P-51B kit is probably the worst of the bunch of WW2 fighters produced by them. Until Zoukei Mura comes up with theirs the best thing is to use the Revell kit as a paint mule rather than spending time agonising over the colour of the tailwheel. The Trumpeter kit is only marginally better so it will have to be ZM to the rescue. My two bobs.

Yes, ....this kit looks incredible to say the least, and it's one of my favorite jet aircraft too, but all i got from these messages in this thread is " A HOPE" of delivery, even having paid for it, and i really hope this whole venture will come true, and i sincerely hope í'll not be discouraged, so good luck to you all............

Ok here we go. Over on BM in the rumormonger section a member (and fellow Aussie) said that he was having a few beers with an engineer that did work for the big T before Covid hit. He said he was working on (CAD) a WW2 twin engined aircraft used in the Pacific. He did also say that a lot of CAD work is done on subjects that never see daylight. If what he was working on does make it into plastic it can really only be a P-38 as T must have lots of data that they used to make the 1/48 P-38s. You heard it here first unless it's all a hoax in which case this post will self destruct.

Bingo! Really quite similar to the Ta 154, Do 335 or some other German aircraft that did little or nothing in the war, yet kit makers gobble them up because they consider them to be cool.

timvkampen reacted to dennismcc in Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind Mk 1
My first encounter with the Whirlwind was probably in an "Air Ace" comic book when I was very young, these comic books were my favourites.
Illustrated is a typical one from 1961, not the one one that fired my imagination that one was the story of a mission to occupied France and the Whirlwind pilot was shown bailing out of his burning aircraft after saving a Typhoon from being shot down so that it could accomplish it's mission. Something heroic like that, it was a while ago after all.
Then of course there was the Airfix 1/72 scale kit which was totally impressive to me, given my size at the time it was probably the equivalent of a 1/32 scale kit to me now.
Cheers

You only have to go back a year to see Tamiya used some very spurious P-38 images to get word out thats what they where working on.
Funnily enough the internet lit up with people denying the possibility of them doing a new P-38.
Door is wide open for a great 32nd 109G family, wide open.
In fact we need a good 109G in 32 with every other kit having issues from small to nit so small.
If they do it will complete the big trio in 32..
