Shawn M
When I got this kit a few years back, i was stumbling through the internet and found this video: I fell in love with the Blue Red Falcon #211 and knew I had to build. I was able to source a Squadron Vac Canopy, Master Barrels, Eduard PE and some Russian Stars so I had everything I needed. Except motivation, and now I have that! The Kit: AM goodies ref books: ready to start work tonight! Shawn M
I forgot "the plan" In flight, speed brakes open. The first hurdle I intend to jump is the 4 piece fuselage, split into front and back halves. Im going to see if I can join the front and rear halves together and then join the left and right. Goal is to minimize the seam and joint work and to provide a real solid joint to support the built model via the jetpipe. The rear section could be removed to allows the engine work. Do not worry about this. Cheers, Paulo. Shawn M

Shawn M
Yes it is thank you, on the kit the seam is less then pleasant due to the design. tchwrma
RLWP
Nice one, I've been tempted by this kit several times. It will be good to see a detailed build Richard Shawn M
Alain Gadbois
If you don't want to show the engine, gluing front and back halves together is the way to go! Edited December 1, 2017 by Alain Gadbois Shawn M
Shawn M
The kit has flaws for sure, namely the incorrect windscreen, pebbly surface finish, the intake and in my opinion an unacceptable cockpit. BUT, its cheap, readily available and I love a challenge Alain Gadbois, Big Texan and Daniel460
Daniel460
I'll keep an eye on this Shawn! Should be one to follow. I would love to get a Mig-21um Mongol B and do the Czech air force bird...Let me get that 110 done.... Dan Shawn M
Shawn M
While I've been able to make GREAT headway, now its slowin down as I start to incorporate the AM sets. But first, the progress. After test fitting and tweaking I was able to get a decent fuse half joint: with that done I filled ejector pin marks in the intakes, the ladder locator holes and some incorrect panels on the tail not shown is some panel line corrections where the line didn't terminate, Im guessing the moulds are either wrong or just worn out. While all that was drying up, I drilled out all the shell and link chutes in the weapons tray With that done I assembled the ailerons, elevators and horizontal stabs, not cleaned up or anything yet Since Im doing an inflight bird I had to get the gear doors in: Since the demo birds didn't carry drop tanks I had to plug these holes, I used some stretched sprue for this. more in part 2 Smokey, BradG, Big Texan and 2 others
Shawn M
Since I have the eduard PE I really wanted to use the PE flaps, they're really sharp looking. SO I had to nuke all the kit detail and cut away part of the wing! In progress comparo Both done, with the wing halves glued together! I have to say thus far, OOB the parts have fit pretty well with minor clean up and tweaking. Now I started the cockpit. Before (OOB) aaand after I hacked the holy hell out of it Staring to re-assemble it with PE I had really wanted to use the very nice (yet SUPER fiddly) PE ejection set. After gluing it all up nice I then checked the kit pilot in the seat......welp HE DOESN'T FIT..... Ugh, so I ripped the seat apart, hacked up the second kit seat (as eduard has you butcher one for the cushion) and slapped some of the PE onto it. At least I know the pilot will fit, although he is total crap. while the glue dries on that I added some joint plates inside the fuse to help hold 'er together Tomorrow I will dive deeper into the PE madness that is the cockpit! Shawn M
Photo Etch Day! Cockpit tub: still some small knobs to add, but the main effort is completed. The rudder pedals and stick will be added after the pilot and seat. Speaking of.... this fella is gonna take some time now Trumpeter......how the hell is that guy ^ supposed to fly anything with his hands where they are? I rifled through my figure selection and have nothing better that will actually FIT the seat and tub. I do have 2 figures that came in the kit, so maybe I will hack one apart to see if I can hybrid a better pose. sandokan, Harold, LSP_Kevin and 3 others
