LSP_Kevin
It's always been "Bf" for me, but I appreciate that historically they were used interchangeably. Kev CRAZY IVAN5, Sepp, Martinnfb and 7 others

Christa
It strikes me that this Bf/Me issue was a case of academic nit picking twenty plus years after the event. I was misinformed sixty years ago but am very happy to have been put right, with thanks to Mark Postlethwaite. Pilots of and opponents of Messerschmitts called them Messerschmitts or Me. Is it proper to adhere to a lawyer's quibble or better to follow contemporary usage? 'Correction' can be wrong, or even - heaven help us - fake news. My Spitfires are Supermarine Spitfires, even though I know full well they were all Vickers Supermarine Spitfires. Gazzas and mozart
Gazzas
Always been Bf for me. Funnily, I can't remember any Luftwaffe pilots memoirs that went either way. Heinz Knoke just called them "crates". Kais, Christa and CRAZY IVAN5 1
Christa
RAF BoB fighters were called 'kites'. Crates v Kites?
MikeC
I've always used Bf. The distinction was really important in the case of the 163, as the Bf 163 wasn't exactly a hot rocket ship https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Bf_163 CRAZY IVAN5
