KUROK
Got room for another Warhawk in this group build? This one is a training group P-40N with "Parrot head" art. No this has nothing to do with Jimmy Buffet...but I do like his music BTW. I will try to finish on time and to do that will have to try and avoid AMS disease... Dang it I'm a month late starting too.... Perhaps I will play some Jimmy Buffet while I build eh? "Cheeseburgers in paradise!....." Edited March 31, 2023 by KUROK misspelled cheeseburge. Can't have that! scvrobeson, LSP_Kevin, Out2gtcha and 11 others
themongoose
Awesome choice! "Perhaps I will play some Jimmy Buffet while I build eh?" Ooooh, that could go either way ....... one beer would lead to another and then I'd get sand all over the model KUROK
KUROK
This little shim made a big difference on fitting the left side fuselage parts. It's a little like being a diamond cutter eh? I didn't study the right side enough so the fit on that side was not that great...sand it! Alcohol would only make this model a wreck!
Dpgsbody55
Great choice. The P-40N is one I wish would be re-released. Or better still, a new one. Cheers, Michael KUROK
BradG
Nice fix for the tail insert. I had heard their fit wasn't that great. KUROK

Phantom2
Nice kit and a very nice nose art! Look out for small sinkmarks around the tail join, I should have done as you did from the beginning. BTW, I´m a Jimmy Buffet fan since long! Cheers! Cheers, Michael I agree! The recent Trumpeter kit as I have read is very good in fit quality as it is up to modern standards...but there are shape issues galore. There is no excuse for that in this information age...and I won't buy it. The now 20 year old Hasegawa may have some of these tail fit issues but the overall shapes are very good. I'll take it any day. Eduard released the P-40N under their "Eduart" label with Hasegawa plastic and resin extras along with a very nice big decal sheet. It was expensive but with all the extras it was a DEAL. In addition, they added the extra pieces for short tail as well as both canopy types. So in that one kit you could build your choice of P-40E, P-40K (long tail), P-40M, and N. I only picked up one of those and regret not getting more of them... KUROK
Slow going. This fuselage joint is sanded now but I need to replace the engraved lines next. It has been a little more difficult than I had hoped. I did learn a lot that I'll apply to the next one. Superglue was the only way to go without any shrink but it sands hard. KUROK
I found at least one photo where they have "plugs" covering the gun ports. Perhaps a training group didn't need them? Could some of the birds have had guns for strafing training??? I have not seen that in photos before. I'm thinking of doing this as it may be easier than painting the guns on the kit part. I'll just sand them down to look like the photo. See photo: Wartime photo of training group P-40N with no guns Edited April 16, 2023 by KUROK misselled word
KUROK
Here is a real seat that matches what is in the kit. I can't afford it...but will post the link here for reference. I'm now sure it is plywood so I can weather the edges that way. eBay P-40N new build seat for sale MikeMaben
