scvrobeson
The paint scheme looks awesome, and the wheel wells are great! Just slightly interested in the wheels, they look very flat. Was that a part of the Mistel conversion, or is this to replicate a specific photo? Matt Pastor John
Pastor John
All the tyres had the air let out of them before the Americans arrived. Much better than letting hand grenades off in the cockpit as we normally see but anyway this is not a military facility so they did not have hand grenades, and interestingly enough the American intelligence report on Bernburg indicates that no explosive material needed for the explosive ball bearings in the cradle connections could be found anywhere at the facility! Making the tyre look flattened is very difficult and if the aircraft was sat on concrete you really need to do it much better than my simply sawing off the bottoms of my conversion kits tyres and putting a little filler around the bottom ....... but.... my kit is in everyway possible based on the photo of the real aircraft sat in long grass so I did not want to worry over-much about tyre deflation perfection. I have Ju 88 A-1 components in the cockpit i could not get rid of as it is a post finish old display model, I have test shot inner rear gear bay doors that are too long and outer rear gear bay doors that I just could not bend both inwards and curve backwards at the same time no matter what i did - I am not worried about tyres in long grass that are not wrong but just could be better. Pastor John
AIMS 1/32 Mistel 3 update, Hi everyone I have been doing the vacuform canopy which meant that once the front section was in situ I could proceed to scratch building the forward safety frame. Please note that if you are ever doing a Ju 88 with the rear section jettisoned - the jettison lever is attached to the rear upper canopy section and not the cockpits roll-bar. An easy mistake to make with it being attached to the roll-bar in the 1/32 Revell kit instructions. Pastor John
AIMS 1/32 Mistel 3 update...hi everyone well that is the build finished. Next time I take photos it will be on a base with some camouflage nets draped over the wing tips and then I will post on the Ready for display page, for now though enjoy. BTW when I tell any of you that i live with two monsters I am no longer referring to my step children! monthebiff
Very impressive finish John, I think you have captured the look beautifully when you compare with the Bernberg pictures. So which is your next ex show model to get the treatment now? Regards. Andy Pastor John
Kagemusha
Impressive indeed, and yes I hope you do such fine justice on another of your show models, soon! ps. Hope your hand is bearing up Pastor John
scvrobeson
Fantastic work on it! Those Mistel fighters are such an interesting part of the war history, you've definitely done them justice. Matt Pastor John
Pastor John
Thanks everyone. As for the next show model - it really depends if I can get back to work next week but my hands are terrible. This model took up so much bench space that it was only ever going to be possible at a time when I could not do resin casting. We shall see, but first the base. I have started laying the foundation and I have painted the medical bandages for the cam nets.
