I just caught up with this Richard. You have serious skills! Building a complete aircraft from scratch is in my mind the very pinnacle of the art, and yours is truly impressive!

Not a great picture...

The cowling is in place, gaps are filled, mysterious humps and hollows are being dealt with.

To me honest, I suspect the 'engine turning' effect will hide most of the weird shapes

Hard disagree. Very atmospheric and it screams "Tabloid" to me! She's coming along gorgeously.

Shaping up very nicely - will this cockpit include an English / German phrasebook so the pilot can launch a string of foul language at les Boches whilst waiting for the Senior Service to work out how to put a machine gun on an aeroplane ?

Certainly not! He already knows how to speak slowly and loudly

Actually, in this case I know who one of the pilots was. Squadron Commander Spencer Grey:

And the chassis is attached:

Chassis isn't the word I would have associated with this area, except I found a contemporary article calling it just that

I must find something to go in that big space under the cowling...

These are the excellent Gaspatch Palmer Cord wheels:

Now for something a bit ambitious. I've owned a watchmakers lathe for some time, and I'm reasonably competent with it, so inspired by @kensar's work on his AVRO I thought I'd have a go at making barrels for the engine:

They will use left-over rockers from the WNW Gnome Lambda sprue and fit into a very simplified crankcase. Most of the engine is pretty hard to see on a Tabloid
