monthebiff
So, some more work on the wing conversion this weekend, with the early 109's having longer wing slats and no guns in the wings some work is required, Alley Cat supply replacement resin slats and internal extension piece so a little sugery is required on the upper wing. Got to say the fit of the Alley Cat resin is excellent so far on this conversion, after studying many pictures of early 109's most had there wing slats retracted so I will be going this way on my build. Next up was to remove the upper wing gun hatch, decided to tape around and then sand off the reaised detail til I was remocing the tape as well, some panel line filling/ re rivetting needed but I will wait until the wing assembly is complete. Needing to start thinking about closing the wing halves together I decided to turn my attention to reworking the wheel wells to try and replicate the canvas side walls, after looking at several pictures I decided to use Tamiya masking tape and then add Archer resin decals to add the zip and stiching details, these where from there weld bead and fasteners sets. Not quite finished but nearly there, time consuming but hopefully it will look good under a coat of paint? Regards. TorbenD
Loving the extra care going into this. Really nice solution to the wheel well covers - might just have to steal that idea... Torben monthebiff

Torben Steal away Torben, have them both done now, will let them fully dry out and then give them a coat if Mr Surfacher 1000 to seal it all in place. Hopefully will get the sealing coat on in the morning. Regards. Andy Alain Gadbois, LSP_Kevin, tucohoward and 2 others
monthebiff
Managed a lille more work on the wing section the last couple of days and have both upper wing sections converted to allow for the longer wing slats. Also both wheel wells completed with the canvas cover treatment, looking foward in the morning to see how this has worked out. Also managed to deal with any gaps etc on the lower wing radiator blanks as well. Needs a coat of primer to check all is ok but getting there Some work will be needed to get the panel detail back. Very happy with progress and time to reach for some paint before fixing the wheel well sides in place. Regards. monthebiff
Wheel well canvas sidewall sealed in with a coat of Mr Surfacer, pretty happy with the results so far. Also added some rivet detail to the rest of the wheel bay parts. Time to get these parts painted som the wing halves can be glued together. Regards. Out2gtcha
Looking good here, and I really like the idea of using the AM raised rivet detail and tape for the canvas wheel well covers. monthebiff
monthebiff
A bit of progress on the cockpit and managed to get the port sidewall converted from an E to B spec, most of the moulded detail removed and replaced and the new map case added as well. and both panels together After looking at the pilots seat I have to say I wasn't to impressed with the general shape so had a go at improving the look a little. and after a little sanding and then adding some half round rod around the edge. Needs a coat of primer all the rough edges sorting but I'm thinking it will work and happier with it than the basic kit shape Just need to get the cockpit floor detailed and revert it back to a B spec, not to much to do but a few key bits and pieces need changing. monthebiff
A little more progress with the cockpit side panels added to the fuselage halves. Also added the Brassin tail wheel insert which is very nice. Most internal sub assembles about complete and ready for paint now. Regards.
