kkarlsen
The fuselage frame has these 'eyelets' welded to some of the corners for the rigging attachments... So I had to come up with a way to produce some 'rings' Ii reminded be of when making buckles and handles from lead wire. Some stretched sprue is coiled around a fitting shaped tool and this is placed over the flame of a candle to reheat the stretched sprue to make it keep the shape... This way I'm able to produce as many 'eyelets' as I need. The fuselage frame is slowly beginning to come together... Madmax
Oh my word! This is like watching childhood dreams turn into reality. Scratch-building from another planet, and very inspiring. Keep going Kent... kkarlsen

And I will, continue to the 'bitter end' :-) Cheers: Kent Edited December 6, 2018 by kkarlsen
kkarlsen
It's beginning to look like a little 'Fokker'... Fitting the Aviattic rudder. And the cowling, also Aviattic... kkarlsen
First little test of fitting the resin spars... The axle fairing has been strengthened with a piece of brass rod. The cast resin spars fits nicely on the axle- The outer spars are held in place by some stretched sprue. This technique seems to work very well, which is a great encouragement for the upcoming wing assembly's... For the Wheels I have been casting some tyres + wheel rims and I will be using the Part photo etched wire wheels and spokes. First attempt at the tail plane, it's not as complicated as it looks... I may have to change some of the 'stringers' with resin ones, they are not 'behaving' as I would like them to. BiggTim
Just fantastic! My modelling mojo has been absent lately, and this is making me want to push ahead with my own skeleton builds. I have been struggling with how to make my own cowls; metal for the Camel and paper for the planned Fokker project. Really awesome work! kkarlsen
Couldn't resist, I just had to try the fitting of the tail plane... Looking very 'Fokkerish'. Now I'm headed for the Wing assembly's... This book about the Fokker Dr. I is just great! Plans and details of the constructions. I'm trying to get as close to real thing as possible. A little example of the work involved for the wing tips. Ready to make copy's of the wingtips. The assembly of the top wing begins. More wing spars in place. No real challenges yet. It's just hours of fiddly work ;-) Cheers: Kent . Edited December 8, 2018 by kkarlsen tomaszhajzler, Wouter, TorbenD and 6 others
