Mark Jackson
For some bizarre reason I decided to build a full size GRU-7A ejector seat from MDF and scrap materials around the home. The base of an old office chair provided the foundation on which to build, it was on castors and had a height adjustment mechanism built in. I used it as my modelling seat but now sit on something a little more forgiving. stusbke, blackbetty, CODY and 24 others

Joel_W
Very nicely done. Definately a one of a kind of build that I'm pretty certain there isn't another one of out there. Joel
Mark Jackson
It wasn't bad really, I used it for quite a few months and the only odd thing was remembering to avoid the face-blind ejection handles above your head. The seat was sold about a year ago now, been thinking about a SJU-17 seat though, don't let the wife know. Bryan
That is incredibly cool! You definitely did an amazing job. Did you ever consider buying a real/surplus one? I have seen them in surplus stores over the years, and surprisingly they don't even bring all that much money. Admittedly though, they were always older models than the GRU-7. One time I almost bought one....but it would have resulted in a divorce if I brought it in the house....so I didn't.
