if the decals are so nice, you may consider using a piece of it to cover the damage instead of trying to match paint.

Yep, that's exactly what I did in the end. Came out pretty well I think. Well, much better than it looked with the damage, anyway!

Righto fellas, here's where she's at currently:

Engine and cowling on, prop placed for effect. I had both gear door covers installed, but I knocked one off while test-fitting the cowling. I need to do a few paint touch-ups and dig out my MV Lenses for the wing landing lights (I'm hoping I'll have a pair that fit). Pitot tube is painted, but there's only half a mounting hole for it, so I'll have to carefully open up the top wing to match before it will fit. The rest of what's left should be obvious.

I tried to take a photo of the engine installed, but the camera ended up focussing elsewhere:

It's a long way from perfect, but I'm perfectly happy with it.

More soon!

Well despite ALL your difficulties, and thanks for doing the "dummy run" for all us Harvard/Texan builders so that we know what to avoid, she's looking terrific!  What stands out from that last shot is how the kit position of the undercarriage is so wrong, definitely an area to be addressed!

Kev,

Wonky engine fit or not...shes a beauty, just as all your efforts end up. You have a really nice way with NM finishes. Your Meteor was every bit the looker too.

Lovely work Mate...

Kevin,

Your model really looks good and the color scheme is really a "eye grabber". Hopefully you will be posting some more walk-around photos for us to enjoy. You should be happy with how it came out.

Thanks again chaps. I am indeed happy with it, despite some remaining flaws. I'll probably not post any more photos now until it's complete, which won't be far away now. Then, a full RFI walkaround photo set will ensue! But first I have to focus on getting it finished for the show this weekend, which means I also have to do the paperwork. Paperwork! Ugh...

Well, the Texan is now officially finished folks, other than me deciding whether I glue the prop in place or just plug it in unglued. I'm hoping to have the chance to take some glamour shots when I get home from work tonight, so I'll post them up when I'm able to.

Thanks everyone for following along, and for all the advice and encouragement. And a special thanks to Ron and Saul for the extra decals.

See you for the next one!
