Here's some more that refers to a J, but includes Hawaii Depot mods info:   https://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/b-24j-cocktail-hour/

I'll dig into my B-24 library and see if I can find any more.

I did actually make some progress on the "front office."   This includes some Eduard PE, as well as assorted stuff from Resin2Detail, the spares box and scratch building.  And maps from Duplicata productions--great source for stuff like that!

Yeah...here I go again.  I had so many frustrations a couple of years ago doing a J, and then the Hobby Room Fire of 2020 melted it...

Been awhile since I could plunge back into B-24 land, but here goes.  I have assorted Eduard, Brassin and Resin2Detail bits (plus some scratch building.

Decals from DK decals with 6 different options.

The big challnege--just what did the jury rigged Ball Turret position look like and how do I model it?

According to the unit history, the turrets were removed in Hawaii and "replaced" with some sort of hand held mount.  Damned if I can find any pictures of it.

    Hi there,

some time ago, I started with my Hobby Boss B-24D kit. Since the fuselage interiors are pretty much finished, I thought it's time to share some picutes.

The fuselage section in front of the nose wheel-well was cut off and replaced with my own 3d-printed version, since I wasn't happy with the cross-section shape of the kit at this area.

Like most/all aircrafts with nose gear, it would tilt backwards without weights on the front side, especially with its heavy tail. Therefore, I added lots of lead plates between the cockpit floor and the wheel well, as well as in front of the cockpit. Together with some additional lead below the floor at the bombardier station, this should be sufficient, although this makes the whole model quite heavy.

To hide the lead plates, I added a styrene plated which contians some diagrams from the manual.

The kit's bulkhead between the cockpit and radio station was replaced by a more open one made of styrene. I also added some 3d-printed radio-equipment. The side-walls got some more structure details.

Since I wasn't happy with the shape of the kit's bombs, I replaced them with my own 3d-printed ones.

    That's it for now.

    Cheers
    Alex

OK...yeah, I now--too many projects going on including the TBD, but I got inspired to return to the Liberator.

    Stand by for more updates.

I'm still very divided about how to handle the ball turret position--not sure I have the skills to "improve" the jury rigged position 90th BG aircraft appear to have had.   It's still not clear to me how that replacement gun position was configured or even how they were supposed to use it.

Well, nevermind.  We'll see how this goes.  Just ordered some Resin2Detail engine replacements.  I just could not (even with Eduard) come to terms with the kit parts.

Looks great so far!  I'm waiting on the Airscale set...or am I.  Definitely will want some PTO decals.  I hope somebody does them soon.   312 Bomb Group would be ideal.

Made some significant progress...then found out the interior should be Bronze Green....oops.  So did some creative touch ups/dry brushing.  It'll have to do...

OK...been waiting for freaking ever for this kit...

I had to start it.  Yeah, I know, there will probably be some sweet AM coming down the pike but I'm too impatient!   Besides, the kit detail is actually not that bad.

So here goes... will be using the GMM decal set for a Coral Sea aircraft.

Added some piping/stuff to the bombardier's position.   Yeah, won't really be visible but I'll know it's there!!!   And a scratch built relief tube for the pilot--how could they leave that out?

Not wishing to appear stuck on a previous topic, but I wonder:  I am under the impression that you made a relief tube for only the pilot.  Hopefully, I am mistaken because, to my knowledge, the enlisted guys in the back were not issued larger than standard bladders with their other flight gear and while it might be possible to stand up and pee over the side, it would take extraordinary skill to overcome the slipstream.  Okay.  I’m done with this.
