Having recently completed the Revell G with all of it's shape issues (there are a ton), and spending 4X what the kit is worth on AM and still having major shape issues that cannot be fixed without replacing both fuselage and wings...   I'll be looking forward to an accurate one.

Revell will never get another penny from me.   How ROG could mess it up so badly is beyond me.

    Thanks gents!

    John,
I agree that the Novus stuff works REALLY well, and pretty much has saved this builds bacon.  I still do often Future as on some builds I like using ultra thin CA to attach windscreens and if you can get a good dip, the Future really makes it easy to use CA without fear of fumes clouding things

    Getting close now boys!

The basic finish line is not too far off now. Ill be putting the rest of the model together, then putting it aside for a bit until Mikkel can have a chance to finish the XM-158s and I can then add those and take some RFI shots.

Cheers and thanks for looking in on me!

Great recovery, she's looking good.  Those helmets are amazing.   Regarding Future - ever since I started using Novus plastic polish (and their related scratch remover when needed), I've never gone back to Future.   I just found it to be too temperamental and the Novus product results in an equally clear and more durable finish.

I'm sure it will be fabulous ( I have their 1/32 He-219, Hs-129 and Ki-45) but I do wish there was some facility to order a basic airframe version of these kits and of course, this 109. Unless you are doing a dio such as a crash or maintenance scene, I struggle to see what purpose is served by all this "But I know it's there" features on the kits which then probably double the cost of the kit. I also know that over-engineering often causes basic fit issues; their Ta-152 was a bit of a dog in that respect.

Great model though and I am glad to see that Z-M are still doing new 1/32 projects.

I am slowly plugging away at this kit. I have pretty much finished the cockpit for now, and I have been working on the plumbing for the main fuel tank.

The cockpit was upgraded with the Eduard set provided through Zoukei Mura, some ANYZ toggles and switches, the obligatory HGW Seatbelts, some Airscale Luftwaffe placards, and the odd bit of scratchbuilding.

I did some reworking of the seat. I redid the cushions with some Tamiya epoxy putty. I’m not too happy with the leather painting and I feel I may do a few more mods to the seat to make it look a bit more like a later version.

The fuel tank has had some pipe work added, though it isn’t fully finished yet. I plan on making the panel over it removable so it will have some more details passing through this section.

That is all I have done so far. Today I am mostly working on the front engine, so hopefully I’ll have more to show soon. I have a few other projects in the pipeline, my what-if Fw-190 should be started soon. I am also working on non-LSP models too!

I hope you all like my work so far! Please let me know what you think, I’m hoping I can get much better as I still feel my skills are limited (you don’t want to see what I’ve done to 1/35 figures trying to paint them!).

    Cheers,
    Sophie

"Werner Voss was a World War I German flying ace credited with 48 aerial victories. A dyer’s son from Krefeld, he was a patriotic young man even while
still in school. He began his military career in November 1914 as a 17‑year‑old Hussar. After turning to aviation, he proved to be a natural pilot.
After flight school and six months in a bomber unit, he joined a newly formed fighter squadron, Jagdstaffel 2 on 21 November 1916.
There he befriended Manfred von Richthofen.

By 6 April 1917, Voss had scored 24 victories and awarded Germany’s highest award, the Pour le Mérite. The medal’s mandatory month’s leave removed
Voss from the battlefield during Bloody April; in his absence, Richthofen scored 13 victories. Nevertheless, Richthofen regarded Voss as his only possible
rival as top scoring ace of the war.

Soon after Voss returned from leave, he was at odds with his squadron commander. He was detailed from his squadron to evaluate new fighter aircraft
and became enthusiastic about the Fokker Triplane. After transferring through three temporary squadron commands in two months, Voss was given
command of Jagdstaffel 10 on 30 July 1917 at Richthofen’s request. By now, his victory total was 34.

His last stand came on 23 September 1917, just hours after his 48th victory. After he fell in solo opposition to eight British aces, he was described by
his preeminent foe, James McCudden, as “the bravest German airman” (Wikipedia)

The main purpose of this build was to experiment with the fabrication of custom made wooden decal's. The build developed from there,
and soon became an exercise to add as much detail to the Albatros D.III Roden kit. (Ltn. Werner Voss Marking Decals - Pheon Decals No. 32074 1:32)

Why is it the camo on these goes all the way to the bottom of the fuselage, and no black underneath, did they only drop these by day? .....probably an obvious answer I am missing, but just curious, because they look so much different from a normal Lancaster scheme.

I've been looking for an "affordable" one of these old Hobby Craft Sea Fury kits for quite a while - this one popped up on Ebay for $80 which seemed a little expensive, until I noticed that it included Paul Fisher's Cockpit Up-grade set, brand new, in the box, never even opened. Just had to jump on it!

And yes, that Fisher cockpit up-grade set (with correct canopy) is spectacular. Now I need to find Paul's up-grade sets for the spinner/prop and wheels...

I’m not entirely sure but I think it has something to do with the fact that air supremacy had been won over the Continent by the time these aircraft were put to use and daylight bombing was so much easier when you can actually see the target through the bombsight.

Work on the Shinden continues quietly.  I do run into a few challenges. not everthing fits equally well, and that is sometimes a pity.
And sometimes very frustrating. But that is a part of the hobby.
When installing the engine, trail fitting was more than nececarry. But in the end, everything is in place.

The first part of the nose is also provided with a layer of paint, and than slighty reworked.

Sorry for the messy photo work. I'll try to provide beter work the next time.

Thanks for the wonderful pics Dave and great to catch up with you & everyone again

I put my Fury in the comp & have to tell you when I walked in the competition area to place it there, I knew any hopes I had of repeating my best in show win of 2017 were misplaced. I saw the Warhorse model and knew I was looking at the national champion - it was simply breathtaking, such a unique and incredible piece.

I was very pleased however to collect some trinkets I won Gold in the scratchbuilt class, the Jan Maes Trophy, the Ron Rowley Memorial trophy, the Scale Aircraft Modelling trophy and the Albion Alloys trophy. I missed out on best aircraft to a superb Avro York (by one point apparently..) as seen below

In terms of the show, it was understated, and felt interim before it kicks back to normal hopefully next year - bear in mind there were none of the usual manufacturers so new stuff and announcements were extremely muted - in fact I think I only recall the Grand Slam lanc on the pocketbond stand - but there was no Airfix, Revell, SWS, HPH, HK Models, even our good friends & stand neighbours Copperstate models were absent so it felt largely like a model show, not a trade show..

from a traders perspective, footfall was lighter - Saturday morning was quite busy, but the customer base was largely the hardcore - either there braving the regulations & risks, or club members supporting their chapters - we did about half the revenues of previous years, with the same stand costs, and higher charges for hotels, fuel, food and insurance. None of this matters to me personally as I would be there whether we make or lose money - for me it's all about the networking, being inspired by the incredible models, buying some bits and meeting up with, or making friends

Those are some worrying statements about brexit on foreign traders that I hadn't appreciated and I hope we don't see a permanent shift in the attendance

Overall, we had a great time and I think we will see things bounce back next year - IPMS are to be congratulated & thanked for putting on a superb event under exceptional circumstances with a vastly reduced budget

I also got a solid kick up the backside from my son in law about not doing some of the things we are repeatedly asked for on the stand and growing the airscale range, so I have a backlog of new products from the experience, so another great positive from the show for us
