Tolga ULGUR
Tolga, Paint looks great. What did you use for that gloss coat? Joel Thanks Joel I have added some Tamiya X22 gloss clear into the Tamiya s ocean grey paint. I will apply main X22 gloss clear after painting terminated. Tolga ULGUR
Before finishing the painting process, I am reviewing the parts that need to be improved. The weakest area is the exhausts. Hobbycraft s exhausts need to be replaced or modified, but if I am not wrong there is no 1/32 Early Mustang Flared Exhausts in the market. Any comments?? Drilling ? No if they are tubular ones I can try But it does not seem to give good results to these flared exhausts Joel_W

ironman1945
Tolga re: Flared exhausts: When I converted my Mustang 1A to a Mustang 1, I used the flared resin exhausts from Special Hobby's 1/32 RAF Airacobra. Its the only place I could find them, and I was going to/ended up building the Airacobra as a USAAF Guadalcanal P-400, which did not require them. Kagemusha
I'd try the traders board, and also contact Special Hobby - a fellow member (can't recall who) recently received a set of the twelve stack exhausts from the P-400 kit. Happy hunting!

TBC
After playing around with image settings of the picture I have of FD-552, you should be okay with fishtail exhausts - that is what it appears to have. Most Mustang Ia's had flared but there are pictures of them with fishtails. I don't know if Airacobra Mk.I's and Mustang Ia's had identical styles of fishtail exhausts. I'll post images later for comparison.
Tolga ULGUR
I m trying to compare Early Mustang and P-39 fishtail exhausts: Here is the Ultracast s 1/48 scale Early Mustang RAF Fishtail exhaust And this is the P-39 Fistail exhaust of the same company They are almost the same aren t they
