How to destroy an expensive kit with just a few cuts - or: Prowler&#33

Worked on the wings during my holiday. Many parts to assemble and quite a few areas to improve - starting with the rivets. Almost all of them need to be filled as there are no visible rivets on the real thing (as on the A-6). The wing fences need to be cut off and moved further inwards (not yet done on the pic). Then, the plain flap outer edges look pretty bad and aren't correct either. This is easily fixed with some thin plastic sheet.

Note the visible step on top of the flap. This is no problem on the inner flaps as the spoilers will be fixed on top of them and the added plastic strip on the flaps outer edges hides it when seen from side.

With the wings in folded position, the situation is a little different on the outer wings. As the spoilers usually hang down when the wings are folded, the step on the outer flaps would be visible, so it had to be eliminated. Easy - just add some plastic sheet and carefully sand it into shape.

And here is a view of the outer wings with the rivets filled on the RH side wing.

More to follow (hopefully) soon!

Really ambitious project! The Prowler is (was) an awesome looking plane and you are doing it justice with this build!

I'm not really familiar with the A-6 family, but why are there no rivets? Have they been filled with something or were the wing panels bonded to the structure?

Loads of thing tubes and wire bundles my friend there's a great set of pictures in the Aerofax book mate I know you have I tend to make good use of those pictures to build up what's beneath behind the seats the problem is there's not to much on the side panels...I mean padding or no padding if you know what I mean..the IP coaming is useful as well but you figured that out I guess.....

Great job so far I see you have you wind screen sorted good job I'm getting the nose closed up so I can start on that area as well, then the scribing (I dread that job) i don't think I can catch up but its getting along pretty darn fine

Cheers Fred
