geedubelyer
Very cool stuff. I'd love the motivation and courage to try something like this. Keep at it, you're doing great.
Starfighter
Worked on the wings during my holiday. Many parts to assemble and quite a few areas to improve - starting with the rivets. Almost all of them need to be filled as there are no visible rivets on the real thing (as on the A-6). The wing fences need to be cut off and moved further inwards (not yet done on the pic). Then, the plain flap outer edges look pretty bad and aren't correct either. This is easily fixed with some thin plastic sheet. Note the visible step on top of the flap. This is no problem on the inner flaps as the spoilers will be fixed on top of them and the added plastic strip on the flaps outer edges hides it when seen from side. With the wings in folded position, the situation is a little different on the outer wings. As the spoilers usually hang down when the wings are folded, the step on the outer flaps would be visible, so it had to be eliminated. Easy - just add some plastic sheet and carefully sand it into shape. And here is a view of the outer wings with the rivets filled on the RH side wing. More to follow (hopefully) soon! Rainer Hoffmann
Really ambitious project! The Prowler is (was) an awesome looking plane and you are doing it justice with this build! Worked on the wings during my holiday. Many parts to assemble and quite a few areas to improve - starting with the rivets. Almost all of them need to be filled as there are no visible rivets on the real thing (as on the A-6). I'm not really familiar with the A-6 family, but why are there no rivets? Have they been filled with something or were the wing panels bonded to the structure? Cheers Rainer
Starfighter
Rainer, I am pretty sure that there ARE rivets, they just aren't visible - I can't see any on the pics I have, so I decided to fill them. The screws around the maintenance panels are a different story, of course. Thank you very much for your kind words! stusbke

Starfighter
First steps on the cockpit. This is the easy part - the remaining 'not-so-easy' stuff comes next. The real thing is very complex - I hope I'll be able to build someting resembling to a Prowler cockpit. stusbke
Loads of thing tubes and wire bundles my friend there's a great set of pictures in the Aerofax book mate I know you have I tend to make good use of those pictures to build up what's beneath behind the seats the problem is there's not to much on the side panels...I mean padding or no padding if you know what I mean..the IP coaming is useful as well but you figured that out I guess..... Great job so far I see you have you wind screen sorted good job I'm getting the nose closed up so I can start on that area as well, then the scribing (I dread that job) i don't think I can catch up but its getting along pretty darn fine Cheers Fred
Starfighter
Before starting the difficult stuff, I've added another easy feature - the fin root extension. More sanding today and and the transition between the fin and the extension will be made with Magic Sculp.
