Kriss Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 Another model flew into the workshop, one of those that are lingering in the cupboard and I still have a lot of it and my wife is whining about how much of it (good stuff) I still have and when I'm going to do it. So I'm getting on with the build, but one that's straight out of the box and how I'm going to make it. Introducing the Curtiss A-8 ‘SHRIKE’ in 1:48 from Czech Model, for me it's a bit of an exotic theme and there will be such themes between Italian and Polish themes. And this is how the box and its contents look like, and there is only one painting and two markings of the machine 80 and 83. LSP_Kevin, MikeC, Tnarg and 12 others 15
LSP_K2 Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 Such a cool airplane. paul fisher, Kriss, Mark_C and 1 other 4
Alain Gadbois Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 So interesting! I have that kit! Alain scvrobeson and Kriss 2
Kriss Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 After a long hiatus of my absence I have returned. I managed to do the interiors of both cabs, still in parts and am checking the fit of everything. denders, MikeMaben, Sasha As and 8 others 11
Kriss Posted July 28, 2024 Author Posted July 28, 2024 Compartments of both cabins ready to be fitted into the fuselage. paul fisher, Sasha As, LSP_Kevin and 7 others 10
paul fisher Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 I thought about doing this up in 1/32 so many times over the years....It would make a very compelling model in big scale. Tnarg, RadBaron, Kriss and 4 others 6 1
scvrobeson Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Really nice cockpit work Kris! What an interesting plane alongside its A-12 brother Matt Kriss 1
Kriss Posted July 28, 2024 Author Posted July 28, 2024 Agreed in 1:32 this would be a very interesting model. Its brother the A-12 is waiting its turn, I also have it in my collection. paul fisher 1
Kriss Posted July 29, 2024 Author Posted July 29, 2024 Fuselage and all elements to be found in the fuselage ready. In addition to this, the inlet above the engine is cut out, there are cut-outs in the fuselage for six windows, four of which are already inserted. The two upper windows will be inserted when the fuselage is closed, it will be easier for me to make them. In the horizontal stabilisers I drilled a hole for the locating pins and in the fuselage I also drilled one. That would be it, I am now off to paint the interior and exhaust. Tnarg Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I would really love to see the Shrikes in 1/32. Your work looks fine and it is the next best thing to a larger one. Thanks for sharing. Tnarg Kriss 1
Kriss Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 The hull closed, the interiors of both crew compartments fitted almost perfectly. There was a bit of sanding. I also added two panes of glass to the top of the fuselage. Now working on the rest of the model. chukw, denders, Fanes and 6 others 9

Thanks for sharing. Tnarg I myself would be happy to build a "SHRIKE" in 32 and even an A-8 and an A-12, by the way the A-12 will also be there because my wife has already taken it out of the wardrobe. Tnarg 1
Tnarg Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Looks great all together. Any ideas on the colors? I love the blue fuselage with the yellow wings, but if I only had one choice, it would be the Hawaii camo for the A-12 and the war games camo for the A-8. And yes, we need the later Shrike, a Martin B-10B, and an Airacuda in the larger scale. OK, I am probably in fantasy land, but they would be amazing. Tnarg Kriss, Hans and paul fisher 3
Kriss Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 The camouflage will be boxy and the other models can always be built from scratch. Knowing life, when one is built some company will just release it. I'm thinking of building a few models from scratch, I doubt anyone will release them beyond 1:72 but it's still a long way off.
Kriss Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Curtiss is taking shape and catching the geometry, moving slowly but forward. Alain Gadbois, chukw, patricksparks and 10 others 13
