Bill Cross reacted to Jst64 in 1/32 SM.79
https://squadriglia.it/prodotto/savoia-marchetti-s-79-sparviero/
Original website is in Italian but they are apparently working in a 1/32 SM.79. If I read the translation correctly they are looking at a September release. No information yet on the cost.

they learn along the way with, in this case, the troublesome wing. So once resolved nothing keeps them from issuing the other Draken versions, RF and Dual(s).

Personally I'm all about these 1/35 kits. Much better diorama possibilities.

Bill Cross reacted to thierry laurent in 1/32 WW2 aircraft ground equipment and air base allied vehicles from Poland!
Hi gents,
As some of you know I've been looking after 1/32 WW2 aircraft ground equipment for years. We got some generators and tractors but the range stayed quite limited and there were some very obvious missing links such as the basic Jeep.
It looks there is at last some light appearing at the end of the tunnel!!!
I contacted yesterday a small Polish company named Dogfight Workshop 3d. They are mainly specialized in 3d printed military vehicles. They have a Jeep, a Dodge WC 54 ambulance, a Humber ambulance, Albion wrecker and tractor trucks with Queen Mary trailers, etc. And they confirmed the possibility to get 1/32 prints!
I still have to get some kits to give an assessment. Moreover we will still have to find a solution for the markings but some of the larger 1/35 ones may do the trick.
I will come back as soon as I will have more information to share.

Bill Cross reacted to ChuckD in 1/32 liberator
The HKM B-25 is a very fun, straight forward build. Mostly accurate except the props. Highly recommend.
The HKM B-17 is straight forward, but not particularly accurate. There are various shape issues, most notably the nose cross section, the contour of the tail fuselage, and the wings mounting to the wing.
The HB B-24 is straight forward, but as per the norm with Hobby Boss/Trumpeter, they kinda threw their "B team" at it and it has various shape issues as well. Most notably the wing doesn't resemble the classic Davis airfoil to any appreciable degree.
As Ray said above, the HKM A-20 is a beautiful kit. I've built two of them. There's a little wonkiness with the engine mounting, but it's easy to fix. You can check out either of my build threads for an in depth examination of the issue.
All three build up okay, but it just depends on how picky you are about the details.

Bill Cross reacted to Tony T in Reskit A-7D/E on the way
Received my ResKit early A-7E cockpit/canopy set today from the big H. I need to liberate the 3DP parts from their complex printing "scaffolding" and then dry fit test the item to see if it deconflicts with the Zacto inlet piping already installed in one fuselage half.
The moulded ResKit clear canopy parts are utterly superb.

a world of difference for the whole profile of the kit. The nose is a must

The major parts on the Viggen are cast polyurethane resin, not 3D printed.
For those, dimensional accuracy relies entirely on the quality and stability of the moulds used to produce them.
The 'master' 3D printed part may well be perfect, but if the mould is distorted, so will be any parts made in it.
Several pieces in my Viggen show mould damage where the particular mould has been used for a few too many castings, which is far from unusual in that type of process to save money.
Reading the above with it taking 34hrs to print a single wing, I can easily believe their failure rate of +/-40%. That, to me, would be unsustainable and I would revert to resin casting with belt and braces mould standards.

Agreed. 👍
It appears you have a particularly poor example, as mine is only about 1.5mm or so and will still require fettling and rescribing etc., but I am not in the least bothered with that having scratchbuilt and made many a vacform.
Of course it shouldn't be like that and I have read elsewhere JetMads did replace poor parts, but mine is probably third-hand, so I don't have that option.

Given the sh#*¤y fit of the cast resin pieces in their Viggen, I'm thrilled they are moving to 3D and am willing to wait.

We will agree to disagree. 😄
Not only are there differences of 1/8" in diameter of the fuselage parts, but the wing roots have required EXTENSIVE work to make them fit the fuselage. All that filling will require rescribing and riveting.

3DP decal cockpit version A-7E for me. X 2.
I've already spent vast sums on two stalled SLUFs so the additional cost is negligible. (Zacto inlets and Aires wheel wells are already installed).
So, just ResKit cockpits, wing pylons and tailpipe.
Pity there's no revised, accurate, ALQ-126 DECM aft ventral lump to replace the nondescript kit part, so I'll start with the Linebacker era A-7E with the simpler ALQ-100 DECM configuration.
The three part clear windshield came as a bit of a surprise, but should look great once fitted. I'm so grateful for this gear: saves two very precious models from the shelf of doom.
How I wish the Thud G set include replacement clear parts, but I think we're out of luck there. A pity, as that kit has so much going for it with the other ResKit offerings.
