I actually want to kit the MeP1101 and Ta183 in 1/32, along with the Me263/Ju??? Wouldn't mind a BV155 as well.  I already have some rudementery vac patterns for a 1/16 P-40E and would like some other 1/16 scale stuff.

Hmmm, a 1/24 scale E.E Lightning would be mighty nice and a 1/32 scale Gloster Javelin would finish off the pair nicely for me!
After I'd finished those..... a 1/32 Avro Vulcan.................................NO ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!

    Hi Max,

Combat kits are usually at the "low" end of the spectrum with regards to ease of assembly and fidelity of detail. You usually have to source your own decals, and the detail sets are somewhat generic. That said, they ARE build able.... Our late, lamented vac monster Larry Hawkins (Maverick72848) built them by the dozens. I have built several, and I think the word I would use to describe my builds is "persistence". They need a lot of fettling, and some engineering on your part. A curse jar on your workbench will ensure that you have enough money to buy your next Combat vac after you finish your first. I'd suggest trying something a bit better engineered as a first effort, like a 1/72 Rareplanes model. Then go for the Anson, and know that there is a great community here to walk you thru it. HTH.

Hi, I'm back with another oldie that I did a fear years ago. Model is based on the excellent kit by Fisher Models, this is one of the first batch without the wing fold, so had to cut, chop and adjust
so I could have a Fury at rest! And more space on the shelves!

Paint is a mix of Model Master, Tamiya and Humbrol. Kept the weathering to a minimum. Sorry for the lightning bolts on the tanks, had a misfortune with them!

Kit is build OOB with the excellent decals, if we except my clumsiness with the lightning bolts!

So a big humongus beast and one of the nicest prop and one of the fastest too!
    Hope you like it.

!/200 Hasegawa. This was a review build

1/144 Zvezda. It started as a "what if" and by the time I was done it had turned into an "It really is"

Another review build, using aftermarket decals for the only "RNZAF" Vulcan ever to fly

You just described my symptoms exactly. I wonder if the hobby is actually just researching, and then buying all the kits and accessories. The modelling has become an optional extra...

Yes...I am indeed listening! I have often thought that a conversion to do an F-4B would be nice, but I am not at all expert on the Phantom so in order to do it right I will need much help from those of you who have invested in researching this subject.
If you guys want to knock heads and maybe write up a laundry list for what's needed I would be very grateful for the help.

I have a feeling it would be a bigger project than I know.

I once told Dave Thompson that we should make our own versions of the Stuka. Then I would make the official plans for it in the style of the German plan sheets of the planes we came up with. I am a professional draftsman and with the computer drafting program it would not  be hard to make up any plans in the official German style, including the rubber stamps marks. Heck, I can buy or have made a number of those rubber stamps. The plans would not be on the original paper but of course not - it would be a xerox copy. The original is too fragile to handle, you know.
Then place the plans alongside the model when we enter it in an IPMS competition and see what happens. Dave and I were both planning three engine Stukas. But Dave had to make money as did I so we put the idea aside and he went  back to producing his fine resin after market conversions kits. Then, unfortunately, he died. He went too soon. Dave and I were both mischievous children who got older but really never grew up.
We could have had so much fun at the expense of the mentally constipated judges.
I may still do that if I can get back to the project.
    Stephen
P.S. Yes, nowadays the  judges can access the internet with their Iphones and Ipads and look it up. Hah! The answer to that is that these planes were top secret and were captured by the Russians and never revealed to the West. I  happened to get the plans through friends of mine who came over the wall. If you say things with a straight face and 100% conviction people will start to believe you - how do you think all those crooked bums get to be elected to the congress?

    Good morning gents...

Okee-Dokee...I will dig out the Venom stuff, my friend Brian Fawcett actually began the thing, then sent it along to me, and then John Adams of Aeroclub was kind enough to send me his own drawings so I guess I should be a good boy and get back on it.

No worried on the F-5F, it's in here too, but I really don't know about doing a Vampire ...somewhere there's a fellow with a really good looking set of masters laying about and as soon as I get a years work invested the thing it will show up and I'm screwed.

After the last big jet kit I can't take that kind of chance any more.

I will have a look for the Venom stuff today...can't go over the mountain to Reno so I'm stuck here anyway!

Here's my various resin up-grades flying in close formation, the old Heller Constellation was a very good reminder of how far plastic kits have come in 30 odd years, but with some old-school elbow grease it comes out all right.

Engines and props, radomes, flaps, tip-tanks , nose section and wheels are all my own resin bits , the rest of the kit was block sanded into submission and re-scribed with an old triangular file and hit with Tamiya light gray primer from the rattle can, then polished out with fine sanding sticks.

Paint is Floquil Old Silver cut with lacquer thinner and sprayed fairly thin. I'm too chicken to learn Alclad yet.The "Lockheed gray" is model Master Canadian Voodoo gray with a few drops of chromate green to tint it to match color photos.Masking took far longer than painting, as usual for a scheme like this.

Hope you like it, probably the first kit from the stash I've actually finished in 15 years!
