1/32nd scale vacform Halifax - COMPLETED

4 blades do have less noise and vibration but for power and efficiency, less is more. When a prop passes through the disturbed air created by its neighbour on the same hub it produces less thrust. The most efficient propellor is actually a single blade with a mass balance on the other side.. -
Love to hear what your mate who commissioned it says!

617 Sqdn The Dambusters being disbanded (temporarily)
hamfists nz replied to PhilB's topic in General Discussion
I bought a book called dam busters at war by some guy called Morton or something..honestly the most agonisingly boring thing I've ever picked up..how can flying a supersonic tornado bomber in hostile Afghanistan be so dull.. ..sounds like the modern RAF has become a hopeless politically correct pit of beaurecrats these days..unless the book becomes stunning in the last 50 odd pages cos I've never managed to finish it -
Let me know how you go because I contacted them about a 1/48 Phantom canopy which they still advertise as a new kit on their site and they keep claiming its out of production. I think that's a fob off..I'd be interested if you get the same reply.

Beautiful..are you sure that metal sheet on the engine mount is on all the spads? It looks suspiciously like a repair ( maybe a doubler after a hit by AAA! ) -
Just like the perfume is used instead of the soap.. ..I take that back :-) low brow

Looks like a bit of 3d printing going on there..what do you think? -
RNoAF, I did a tint on an F16 canopy once..it wasn't perfect but I used future (or local version of future) mixed with a combination of yellow and black food colour from my wife's cake stash.

I see those little "hook" or #2 decals on other (mostly jet) aircraft. What do they represent? Is it a structural point of some sort?- 387 replies

Don't use a soldering iron near white metal..from experience I reckon white metal and solder have a lot in common -

I remember the 75th..? Anniversary airshow at Whenuapai when the big 3 came over in a surprise arrival formation; F111, Mirage and Hornet..made an awesome sound! A real growl but one of them making a sort of "blue note" hum. I had a look in the mirage tailpipe later and I remember being surprised there was quite a bit of surface corrosion..think I was about 10..- 387 replies

Hi Shaky, nice work! Question; do you have a reference pic for the jet pipe. I'm not that happy with my attempt at "burnt iron" and that foil rings a bell in my memory somewhere. I might have a go at foil if you can prove it for me because that looks quite good ;-)

Wow that looks great! Just swallowed up your preshading a bit though. I haven't tried preshading ..yet, but in my next build! Can you get it back out again? (Advice for the inexperienced?) -
There are so many kingairs flying and their pilots might want to build one..kingair would be better economically?!
