BTW - Nose art. Does artwork at the rudder count in? And how about fully decoratred aircraft from anniversaries or last flights?

    Regards

    - dutik

No the rudder does not count as Nose art. If you were interested in building a fully decorated aircraft then Commemorative Colours is the Group Build you want to vote for.

For Asia, what are we using as the definition of Asia?  Aside from the obvious countries like China, Russia, India, and Japan, the Middle East is also commonly considered part of Asia.

The wikipedia listing. Nothing too complex.

So does encouragement count or would one actually have to build something?

I would like that if you vote for a group build (or 3) that you intend to build something for it. Otherwise if lots of people vote for a build they just like the idea of but don't build for, it will be an empty group build.

  4. Hi all,

    Once again it's time to vote for the Group Builds you want in 2023. There are 9 options vying for 3 places. Please vote for 3 maximum. I would also ask that you vote only if you intend on participating, otherwise the results will get skewed away from participants. Keep in mind the first GB will be Hasegawa LSP's. The options are;

Aces High - any pilots with 5+ victories from any conflict.

In Enemy Hands - any captured aircraft in the markings of it's captors.

Turning Japanese - Japanese aircraft from any time period.

Commonwealth Air Forces - just that, lots to choose from.

On The Nose (Art) - nose art on any aircraft, shark mouths included

Commemorative Colours - a place for all those event or anniversary colour schemes eg; Tiger Meet, squadron or battle anniversary art etc.

South of the Border - aircraft of Latin America

Air Forces of Asia - from the Asian continent, any time period

    The Luftwaffe - 1933 - 1945.

    Voting closes November 20th.

  5. Some of the ideas are a little too specific guys, keep in mind we're working within the boundaries of LSP's, so that does restrict us a little.

I'm not opposed to a Battle Damaged or What If build, but, would there be enough interest? The same goes for a super detailed build, are there enough modellers here that want to build cowlings off? I don't know. Also if this was the case, I think we'd need to extend the more work intense builds to at least 9 months.

Any kind of rescue, CSAR, CG, Medevac (civy and military) aircraft.

    Tim

It's a nice idea but in large scale, just not viable as a group build as there aren't enough kits around.

The same for Recon really, just not enough kits available.

    G’Day all,

I have a few ideas that I thought I might Table,

“Nose Jobs” any aircraft with nose art this gives you scope from WW1 right through to aircraft deployed on current ops and everything in between.

“A dash of colour” any aircraft outside their usual basic/tactical/camo schemes so this could cover anything from WW1 in the dazzle and stripe schemes, through WW2 with some of the colourful fighters or even formation birds through to modern CAG birds and commemorative or show/display aircraft.

“On the scoreboard” any combat aircraft with a tally painted on it, be it mission markings, bomb tally , aerial victory markings (inc Mig Killers from Korea/Vietnam/GW1 or even the Super Hornet in Syria) this will give you scope for a range of fighters and bombers particularly from WW2 up to current scheme.

    ”Jaws” anything sharkmouth…. Enough said

I do also like the “Eye in the sky” suggestion made earlier to encompass any recce/photo recon or observation platform

Just a few thoughts looking forward to hopefully taking part in my first LSP GB this time around

    cheers

    Cairnsy

I don't mind the Nose Art idea, would include shark mouths in that just to increase the scope of the group build. Non traditional camouflage or a special schemes is due for a repeat as we did try tiger meet GB before, but I'd increase the scope of it by including commemorative or special colours in it. Scoreboards kinda meshes with Aces.

Recon is a good idea but how many kits are there in LSP's available?

  8. Ok, some good ones there; In reply to the suggestions;

Non aligned airforces of the cold war - not a bad idea

Meditarranean Theatre - Out of Africa is literally up next in a weeks time, so that covers a fair bit of the med if you wanted an Africa Corp 109 etc

    The Commonwealth - good idea

Companies gone but not forgotten - not a bad idea, although I hope people will want to build their now hard to find models.

USAF - Did it in 2017, might be too soon for a repeat.

Matchbox kits - is there enough models around and enough options? Not sure

Civilian Aircraft - done in 2017, might be too soon for a repeat

Nightfighters - Nocturnal Activities is running right now until end of November.

Twin Engines - Done in 2019, too soon for repeat

Navy Aviation - Done last year, too soon for repeat

Helicopters - Done in 2016, might be ok for a repeat

Cold War - Done in 2020, too soon for repeat

Recon - Good idea although I'm not sure there are enough models to make it a viable option. Happy to be convinced otherwise

NMF - might not be for everyone

Japanese Airforce - done before but due for a repeat.

  9. Yep it's about that time of year again. Give me some good suggestions for builds you'd like to participate in next year. I think the 4 will go ahead as usual, keep in mind when making a suggestion there needs to be adequate amount of subjects to build and kits in 1/35 or larger.

There are 3 positions to be filled as I've made an executive decision to go with a Kev suggestion and have a 'Hasegawa Group Build'.

    A couple of suggestions from me include;

    Aces High

    In Enemy Hands

We have done them before, but not for around 10 years. Over to you guys.

Ah Hyperscale. I was a member of the great banning for bad mouthing Meteor Productions/Dave Klaus. The day that his sponsorship of HS ended, Brett unbanned me. I thought that was pretty chickens*%t of him. I first learned of the 9/11 attacks thru HS, since I couldn't connect to any regular news sites and folks started posting about it there. Once it and Missing Lynx went tapatalk, I was history. Loved the old threaded format. Internet nostalgia.

Yeh I got the flick from there years ago for something similar. Never bothered going back and don't miss the place.

  11. A while back I put together a 4 part article for our local modelling magazine called 'Box Top Bloopers;, here's a few of the funniest.

Some quality trolling from Hasegawa, with a Japanese helicopter carrier sinking a Chinese fleet carrier.

    Those are Chinese soldiers.
