Cool!
Kind of surprised that you didn't announce your new 1/24 Spitfire/Hurricane exhausts here

Agreed. The more or less total absence of a lot of mind numbing rigging, is a big draw for me, that's for sure. Plus I just think the aircraft is beautiful.

So, the Dremel made short work of modifying the upper cowl panel to fit like it needs to. In addition to taking off around 1mm from the forward edge, I also heavily thinned the front and back lips from underneath:
This helped the panel fit over the top of the instrument panel to the rear, and the locating lip on the nose at the front. Here's the result of the test-fit:
This loose tape-together doesn't really reveal all the areas that will need attention, but at least shows that I've now got things in the ballpark, and can move to permanently attaching the nose parts. The upper cowl part will need a bit of shimming, and all areas will need a dose of Milliput, but I'm much happier with it now.
And so is the Buchon:

Since my plea to stay on topic with this one has gone unheeded, and since several people were getting a bit hot-headed about things, I've reluctantly had to give this thread a drastic prune. Not every pruned post was transgressive, but in order to maintain the flow and relevance of this topic, they all had to go. I'm seriously disappointed and concerned about the way a simple kit announcement thread has gone so badly off the rails here, and it gives staff serious pause for thought.
If you wish to discuss any of this, please do it with one of the mods via PM, and keep it out of this thread.
What about those Wingnut Wings triplanes, eh?

This canopy is a 'must have' for the Revell kit. Thanks for providing us with an alternative to the milky, distorted kit canopy!

Once again I'm here wishing I could report more progress than I am, but at least I've got the canopy installed now:
I installed the individual pieces separately, working forward from the rear, and I somewhat regret this now, as each part doesn't mate perfectly with the ones it attaches to. I suspect I introduced a slight irregularity at the rear when dealing with the seam on the sloping rear section. I also had to file away some material on the bottom of the armoured head rest, as it wouldn't sit over the seat belt attachment buckles otherwise. Now I wish I had joined each section to the other off the model, and ensured they were all straight and perfectly aligned. The problems are only slight, though, and shouldn't spoil the look of the model unless you know to look for them. They're really not even visible in the photo. I will have to seal the joins with something prior to painting, however!
And the obligatory test-fit of the nose:
Still some major troubles ahead with that upper cowling part, but my first task is to shorten it by about 1mm so that it will fit in the gap. After that, the trickier issue of matching the height at each end will have to be tackled. I reckon once all that is sorted out, things should proceed pretty quickly.

D Bellis got a reaction from Gazzas in Anybody seen this Ju-88 fairing before?
I believe that he's asking about the big fairing between the gun mounts, not the two-gun rear armament (which was a common feature on Ju 88s starting with the A-4).

Looking forward to seeing your 1/24 Mustang wheel wells!
That will save hours of work and fiddling for anyone building that classic but still very worthwhile kit. I've already started preparing another build in anticipation of purchasing all your Mustang parts.
Thanks so much!

This is taken from my notes on the Fokker DR. I.
Information comes from Dan-San Abbott
Gentlemen:
There are several differences between the Fok F.I, first production order and the revised design Fok.DR.I.
Fok.F.I/DR.I Fok.DR.I
Top span 7190mm 7200mm
middle span 6225 6230
lower span 5725 5770
wing chord 980 1000
Aileron balance 625 200
Aileron trailing
edge taper 2 spaces 1 space
The Fok.F.I had a different cowl and no wing skids and a curved leading edge on the tailplane.
Fok.DR.I from 104/17 had the revised cowling and had wing skids and a straight leading edge on trhe tailplane.
The original wing and the revised wing had the same Gottigen airfoil
The aircraft total weight differed, F.I=571kg. Dr.I 586kg.
Blue skies,
Dan-San

I thought the ailerons were also a little different between the first three aircraft and those that followed - ?
