DugyB
I’ve got it standing on its legs, I needed to check the ground clearance for the ECM pod, the fit is almost ok, but silly me wanted a wee bit more, so I’m back at the mount welding without measuring anything ……I’ve been going back and forth with getting all the sub assemblies finished and ready for the paint shop…. be back soon… Edited April 24 by DugyB Sepp, chaos07, patricksparks and 9 others
DugyB
There ya go, that’s better. Also noticed the wheels and am satisfied with my reverse engineered project. Time to scoot off and mix up some white paint … Edited April 25 by DugyB patricksparks, MikeMaben, Landrotten Highlander and 9 others
DugyB
I think this it for all the bits and bobs, I’ll sort out the attachment points/rails next. BradG, patricksparks, BiggTim and 6 others
DugyB
While letting things dry during my coffee break I couldn’t resist the urge to start planning out just how I’ll tackle the nose art. So far it looks like a stencil using some leftover vinyl of the figure. I need to get to a art store and source a quality art pen/paint pen for the intricate outline work. chaos07, Fanes, patricksparks and 8 others
wingman777
This build is really satisfying to me. It's a case of what could've, should've been. Keep up the good work. Martinnfb and DugyB
James Rademaker
Great job! This is the kind of building thread that gets my interest. A little “out there “ but, it could have happened. Looking forward to a “Jug” in SEA camouflage. Jim Martinnfb and DugyB
DugyB
Cheers guys, Thank you heaps, I hoping to pull off that SEA paint scheme. Any maybe weather the heck outa it too. I need to make some paint masks for the front wind shield then it’ll be off to the races with painting. Martinnfb

I must say that your wee mousie nose art looks very continental European to me. Remember that this thing was supposed to be flying during a war fought by testosterone infused young American men who’d made certain men’s magazines popular. I would have thought that nose art on an airplane known to one and all as “The Jug” would evoke something much more feminine and jugified than a mouse. But that’s just me. DugyB
Have started the tedious process of painting the stars and bars insignia. A few things are a tad outa whack, so naturally the blames lays square at the GIs who applied the camo in the field, in monsoon conditions, 1000% humidity, at a gazillion degrees temp all the while slapping at the hordes of hungry feasting mossies…. I was going to document my step by step method but a serious case of laziness set in …… Finally I’ll start by painting the bottom the light grey/white before moving on to the tan on the topside… Sepp, patricksparks, Martinnfb and 5 others
