  1. Have been bouncing around back and forth like a ping pong ball which now I’ve at last finished the radar and ECM mount, also as requested I’ve added some very important armour plate protection to the bottom….not that brass balls need protection, but y’all know just in case anyway…
  2. I believe the correct term would be either borrowed from or pinched from do to safety concerns….
  3. Aluminium finish is looking sharp there
  4. I looked at that idea only to discover I’d have to perform some serious surgery. The ailerons were massive on the P-47, almost extending to the wing tip. I’ve another idea brewing though, still undecided…
  5. A little more detail to scratch for all the attachment points for weapons and I’ll then be finished with these. I’m leaning towards adding another CBU dispenser. Stole them from my AD-1 Skyraider kit. Aiming for a realistic SAR load out which would be a great compliment to the Sandy’s and Jolly Greens.
  6. Thanks Shoggz, Fingers are crossed over here, I can see where everyone else has been before.
  7. Awesome work, love it. But I gotta admit I was trying REAL hard to look at your scratch building skills with that door, I couldn’t see it. And did you use masks for the canopy? Looks so clean…
  8. Almost forgot to “tag” my model, I remembered the last model I built over seven years ago I signed the interior with a Sharpie. As I glued in the cockpit it dawned on me not to forget this time too. Years ago I’d envisioned some kid playing with my model, having a grand time, maybe blowing it up with fire crackers only to find my hello, long after I’m gone…
  9. Thanks Jim, I added a bit more detail to the cockpit today and have it finally glued in.
  10. Ok, here’s the choice of my load out, I’m pretty limited with what I have, so here’s what I’ll use and mount up. I’m just not sure of the order or if I’ll add either another bomb or anti personal tube. Skyraider pics online show a plethora of weapons
  11. Shh, keep it down there, mums the word…
  12. As a kid I loved that ol Shangrila kit
  13. Phew……..as long as the document wasn’t discovered at Mar-a-Lago I’m good ……
  14. I’m going with the USAF SEA scheme, will use Mr. Hobbies colours and see how they go. Very curious about them.
  15. Thanks mate, I can’t lie there it’s been fun. Though credit must be given to my 4.0 readers, without them it’d be a huge blob of paint….
  16. Onward to the next step, trying to get rid of, or at least subdue the golf ball size looking rivets (dents) in the cowl flaps. I couldn’t help but notice just how prominent they look in many of the pics online of different builds.
  17. Finished with the radar dome and mount, and depending how lazy I get this afternoon I’ll maybe make a power cable for it.
  18. Have started to scratch together a dual mount for the Radar and ECM pod. All very fiddly stuff that needs to be done before moving on to the next step…
  19. Seeing the pic of the fuel cell I would imagine the reason for the colour would be it was anodised, for maybe cutting down on corrosion.
  20. Blame the cat, that’s what I use to do anyway …..
  21. SAR missions north of the DMZ had a serious threat of Mig harassment. A mobile, or quick release air to air radar unit was designed and developed to mitigate this threat. More then a few Mig pilots found themselves on the unfortunate end of the Superbolts sting. Hugging the valleys and canyons they were fast, nimble and difficult to detect. It wasn’t uncommon with the aid of a airborne EC-121 Connie’s help to set traps for unsuspecting MiGs.
  22. Wrapped the cockpit up today, it was pimped up with extra bits from a Mustang, Spitfire, and Lancaster, with the seat harness both American and German. Also it was a last minute decision to leave the pilot out, I’ve been wanting to get back to putting pilots in my models so I’ll use him instead for my USAF Skyraider build I have planned…
