Wrong parts in Airfix kit

Hi all,

 

I bought the 1/24 th Airfix Hurricane kit today to join the "Aces high" GB.

To my surprice and small horror it cantains the clear parts for the 24 th Spitfire kit !

 

I wrote to Airfix to get the correct parts.

I now hope they will send the correct parts.

 

It's my first time in more than 40 years I have had this problem.

 

Just in case they don't send them.

Does anyone have the clear parts leftover ?

They will.  They're very good about that.  I once bought a 1/72 Airfix kit only to find two or three complete sprues missing.

I let them know and they sent me a new complete kit.

They sent me a replacement canopy for the 1/24 scale  Typhoon that had a crack. In actual fact they ended up sending me 2 as the first one they sent had a crack too. Very speedy service, no complaints!

I'd say not totally wrong as you may have a beneficial situation if the Spitty clear are in good order as when you delve into

the super spitty, you are good to go with clear parts. Even may be a moment when you can help a fellow LSP'er incase they

need such parts! Surely Airfix will remedy this ASAP as others said. Cheers.

It does make me think: what if some bright spark had thought to give the Hurricane a "Malcolm Hood" a la P-51?  There you go, that's your fall-back option if they don't send the parts. 

 

But I expect they will.

Airfix replied that the Hurricane is no longer in production.

So,most likely no clear parts !!

My LHS is closing at the end of the year and is holding a -30 % sale.

 

I also bought the Spitfire today.Hoping they made a mistake again and added the Hurricane parts.

They didn't !

 

I'm in luck. A member is sending me the clear parts.

Reply from Airfix that the kit is out of production and no clear parts.

What can the shop owner do ?

Nothing, other than taking the kit back and giving you a refund.  Then the shop will be stuck with a kit with missing parts.
