My new project - Aenea Draco - DONE!

Then I got Baydhyrth sprayed in his bright bronze, which again is actually MRP brass, but the Bronze dragons are usually very bright brass-ish and bronze green colored, so I figured the MRP brass would work.

Unlike normal, the MRP brass took many, many thin layers built up to achieve the brighter look I was going for.

I did notice a seam on his leg that the bright brass color brought out, so that will have to be fixed as well as likely a few other spots, but overall it turned out good, and will look even better with the soon to come green accents and black wash:

I will let this dry and tackle the places that need to be fixed, then it will be onto adding the bronze green accents.

Cheers!

Beautiful job on that!

I’ve always wanted to build a dragon but, a big one…an LSP dragon?

I've thought about that too, but in a flying position......or even possibly wall mounted somehow to support more of the weight of MUCH larger wings and body. :hmmm:

Even for as small as this guy is, he's still +12" and all assembled is more impressive than I thought when I first got all the separate print parts.

Thanks!

My painting skills have felt not up to par lately either honestly. Although I have a LOT of touching up to do, Ive jumped ahead a bit on our dragon friend.....

Baydhyrth was masked off for some bronze green stripies across various parts of his body:

I got the above areas sprayed with gloss black again, then hit them all again with the MRP brass....

After he was generally all "bronze" again I let him dry for a day or so then unmasked things to see where I was. As I mentioned, I still have a TON of touching up to do, and I still have a full black/dark wash to go, as well as painting eyes on him yet, but this is where I'm at:

He is actually SO bright atm, that as you can see some of the shots got some wash-out in them. A good wash of black should fix that!  Ill apply that, then wash it all off and see where I am, then likely on to painting the eyes then final touch-ups and Baydhyrth will be ready to be mounted in his final position on his rocky base.

Cheers!

With some touch-ups, a respray of some flat on the wings, a black wash, green eyes with some UV resin and Baydhyrth is done!

Now all I have to do is get him glued down to the base, which he is not atm.  Once I do that I can continue a few trials with my new 5gal vac chamber so I can do some degassing of the resin when it comes time. I still have to get some new resin dye before that, and need to find a way to weight Baydhyrth down on his base so he doesn't decide to float when I pour things.

Cheers till next time!

Fantastic work!

Just glue it on base before pouring, then it’s certain not to move during pouring.
Is the resin epoxy or polyurethane?

I’ve cast big amounts of epoxy, without degassing and had no problems with bubbles. It sets so slowly all the bubbles come up and pop by themselves. A quick shot of heat gun at first gets rid of the bigger ones that come up at first, then nothing to do until the next day.
