Hi guys

First post as I stumbled on the forum searching for info. I've registered and had a search through here, but for some reason it just times out. So, I apologise if its been answered.

Have been away from building for a while, decided to get back to it through the covid period. Been away, since i was a young bloke, now almost 50.

I grabbed a 1/32 Tamiya Tomcat as that was my dream model as a teenager (no $$'s back then) and for the struts/piston part of the landing gear I bought some of the silver tape for it, it's OK for this intro back, but i've seen some modellers on the tube with beautiful looking gear, they have even managed to get the wear lines into the chrome.

What is the preferred method of getting such a great looking result. Here is an example around the 2:11 mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci7rIyeAICc&t=8s on this 1/32 Mirage.

Thanks in advance

I use a narrow strip of Bare Metal foil wrapped around the oleo just enough to adhere.

As above bare metal foil or kitchen foil, pressed down with a cotton bud and then trimmed with a sharp scalpel.
